I have four medications that aren't related to the surgery that I take daily. Yes, I can take some of them. My birth control pill is small enough and another one I can snap in half and wait 30 minut

  • I'm one wek post op and I take several meds some of which are quite large. The only one I break in half is Metformin ( horse pill)! The others I just take one at a time with several drinks of water.

  • Hey everyone Just checking in.. tomorrow is one week since surgery, and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm still not having as much liquids as i'm supposed to (maybe half.. if that..) but things seem to be

So I'm a little late getting here, but just wanted to say hello. I was banded 7/26/11 with a hiatal hernia repair and I am feeling pretty good so far. I have lost 9 lbs since my pre-op weigh-in on the 26th and each day that goes by I feel better and better. My incision sites are healing well, gas pains in the shoulder are all but gone and just a little mid chest pain after I eat or drink and minor port discomfort. My first post-op apt is 8/11 and I can't wait to see how things are going then and to be able to eat mushy food. Yesterday was the first day I was really hungry, but had a few bites of sugar-free cheesecake pudding with fat free cool whip & that did the trick. Glad to know that those few bites left me feeling full and satisfied. I go back to work tomorrow; a 10 hour shift, will definately miss my mid-day nap & will be sure to take my liquid tylenol just in case. I wish you all the best and am looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Kate,

At least you know you are off the wagon and there isa reason for weight gain. You know that you can get back in gear, get ready for your fill coming up and you can start to fill up faster with less food. I haven't lost anything for over a week and I am still on freakin mushies. Hang in there, Kid.

I'm way off wagon. Between late night hunger and my vacation, I'm up 3 pounds. I know I'm completely freaking out even though I know it is water weight from TOM and constipation, but the fact that I haven't lost in two weeks is enough to tell me I'm off track. I'm back in town and tomorrow I'm back to my routine. I'm so angry at myself! I'm so burned out after the big push I made to lose weight before surgery! What if I can't get it back together?

i hear you sister! i haven't gained, but i feel such a loss with no progress going on, and i got a fill friday, and i don't feel much difference...i think i need to start my exercise regime and get the head voices out when they tempt me to eat unhealthy.

Setback. Out of the four incisions, the largest one (port site) is not healing correctly. I went to the doc last week and got on some antibiotics. Today I went to take off two bandaids and it literally ripped my skin off in two more places. :( It burns so bad. Tomorrow is one month post op. Hoping this gets better soon. :(

So sorry to hear about your port site! Hang in there, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. I had a problem last year with a surgery spot and it turned out I was allergic to the tape I was using. It was scary but started to heal up after a few days with antibiotics. Hope everything gets better, keep us posted!

Hope you are feeling better. My doc said not to take off the steri strips on my own. Everyone is different though so listen to your doc. CAT

I had to take off my steri strips today. I was so nervous to do it, for fear of ripping off my skin too. I stood in the shower for a long time to let them soak and eventually got them off. Now I have to contend with the black/grey tape goo that is left over!

Hello everyone. Just popping in here to say hi. Banded on 7/30. Been tired off and on, but plugging away. I seem to be doing okay otherwise. Hope everyone is okay.

I got my first fill today! It was easy-breezy. I went in and laid down on a table, the dr. put a needle in my stomach, I drank some barium, and the dr. added enough saline to give me a total of 4 cc's. He also said he could see a pocket of gas trapped behind the band, which explains why my shoulder sometimes still aches. He showed me the white cloud on the x-ray machine.

I'm not supposed to have anything thicker than tomato Soup today, then full liquids/super-soft mushies tomorrow, then full mushies/soft foods (canned tuna, soft canned vegetables, etc) Wednesday, then back to full solids Thursday. I was doing fine with my liquids until about 9 p.m., when I was suddenly STARVING. So I got some greek yogurt with honey and stirred it and stirred it and stirred it until it was just about the consistency of tomato soup. A slightly thick tomato soup, but still . . . And it was way yummy. :D

I've lost a total of 10 lbs. since band day. My goal is 10 lbs a month, so I'm moving right along. Hooray!!

Amy, I'm so sorry!

@Lisa, thanks. Learning to avoid the trigger places. It is hard!

LOL! My old screen name! Guess I remembered my first account credentials after all! How did ads get there?

Not sure about the ads, I've been seeing a lot of people talking about them, so I know it isn't just you. Gotta love random ads. LOL
