So let me begin by saying I am 10 months in and never been stuck enough to throw up. Yay me. On Saturday I had a couple of teaspoons of potato salad. (yeah i know bad choice). About two hours later I got the worse pain in my upper back. Never did I think I was stuck...I could still drink Water slowly. By the end of Saturday early Sunday I was dying with nausea and back pain. Still I can drink a little at a time. All this time I am thinking food poisoning even though no one else was sick. Monday morning I vomited a little bit but still could not eat and felt horrible. By the end of Monday night my husband is going nuts and says you gotta call your doctor its not food poisoning. Page the doctor who tells me yep your stuck stop eating and drinking come see me in the morning. I couldn't make it through the night. I call the local er and they tell me yep we can take some Fluid out. I get there and sit for 31/2 hours to find out the er doctor has no idea what to do. Well needless to say we left and drove to my doctors office were he met me early before surgery. I had 3cc taken out of the 9.5cc in band. Was able to drink just fine in office on Tuesday. Get home try a Protein Shake and some Soup no go. Right back to nausea and back pain. I had to get up early this morning and drive back to have my band totally deflated for 2 weeks. YIKES!!! On my own with no restriction. Plus Im going to New Orleans this Friday. Just had to tell someone who understood what Im going through. Only plus in all of this is I lost 4lbs. To bad that was not the way I wanted to lose it.

Don't be too disappointed if some or all of that 4 pounds comes back. Sounds like you dehydrated yourself.

That sounds like a horrible experience! Stay strong in New Orleans. You have done great so far!

I have (fortunately) not had a stuck episode (only banded since 6/16) so I have nothing to compare your experience to, but the pain you described sounds similar to when I had gallbladder problems a few years ago before I had it removed. I sure hope your problem is solved now!

My surgeon thought he blew my Band, so he deflated me completely. I have been deflated for 3 yrs... Finally have a surgeon to help me (HIS STUDENT) after moving. He sends me in for Fluoroscopy, and there is nothing wrong with the Band ?????

So they filled me to my fill line, and I am starting over.

Just keep journaling your calories, and keep them where you like them. Regardless... Then you will do fine.

Sounds like gallbladder to me too, not band. Ask for an ultrasound for your gallbladder to see if you have stones.

Thanks for all the support. I will definitely get checked out for gallstones! So far I am feeling better and better. Back is still a little sore. But improving. Wondering if this was from throwing up so hard along with being stuck. I was definitely stuck! As soon as he let all that Fluid out the nausea left almost immediately.

That is hard to image getting stuck but not knowing or feeling until 2 hours after you ate potatoe salad. I have had a couple of getting stuck episodes and I knew it quickly and it had passed within 20 minutes. Hope everything is OK and you don't have some other problem.

Okay a couple months ago I was sick for 2 weeks.

I went for a small fill and it was too much. I couldn't eat, I had days where it was all I could do to keep down Water. I went in and had some taken out and still the results were the same. I thought I needed another unfill but I kept sipping stuff very slowly and I mean tiny sips and finally after almost 2 weeks I was able to eat again with no problem.

My point? Once you get stuck you swell and the swelling can last a while. Until it goes away completely you will keep having pain and nausea.

I hope you feel better soon!

I so agree, have your gallbladder checked. The pain you are describing sounds like when I had my gallbladder attacks. Also they had ahard time determining it was my gallbladder, so push them hard just to make sure.

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
