Oh no...banded March 22 and I am pregnant.

Recommended Posts

I just found out that I am pregnant with my third child. I was banded 3 months ago on March 22. This is a big surprise to me as we were not trying.

I have been filled to 5 cc and have lost about 20 pounds since surgery. So far, I feel very little restriction so I am not worried about being able to eat enough, but just about carrying a baby to term with a band in me and so soon after surgery.

Does anyone else have any experience with this?

I have a follow up to see my doctor on July 1 and will discuss it with him then. Not sure what to expect?

Thanks for your time.

Stacey

I personally do not, obviously, since I was banded only 2 weeks go; but a good friend of mine got pregnant with her third child right after she got banded, and as far as I know everything went well for her. She was still able to maintain weight loss after her son was born too.

You will most likely have your band emptied at your next appointment. I don't know of any surgeons that would leave Fluid in your band while pregnant.

Congratulations to you on your pregnancy!

You will have to probably be unfilled until after you give birth or are done nursing (if you do that?). I was scared of getting pregnant right after surgery because they wanted me off birth control a month before and a month after and I got pregnant when my husband just breathed on me. I've heard it happens quite often because of this reason. Congratulations to you and best wishes for a happy healthy pregnancy!

My wife had both of our children with the band. It's totally doable. Just be careful about throwing up (as always) because that can cause the band to slip.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
