I start my pre-op diet tomorrow, surgery is July 6th, and I will be on a low fat diet. Started my pre-op diet alittle over the weekend and lost 5 lbs so far. Good luck everyone with your surgery and dieting. It can be frustrating.

I started my pre-op diet today (surgery July 5). It's 2 weeks - 3 Protein shakes a day, 2 lien cuisines per day (or equivalent - smart ones etc.) and up to 2 cups vegetables per day. It's really not bad compared to what I'm seeing on here... Good luck to us all - would be nice to lose about 7-10 pounds going into the surgery so the pre-op diet will be good for that!

Allison - this looks almost familiar. Mine is:

Day 1 and 2 - liquids only

Days 3-12 - do not exceed 1000 cals - two to three pro-shakes and a lean cuisine-type meal not to exceed 300 cals.

Days 13-14 - liquids only

My surgeon does not require a preop diet. My surgery is on 6/29. I think I will go low carb & add a Protein shake daily starting the 22nd just so my body doesn't freak out after surgery.

Also my surgeon said that out of the thousands of surgeries he's ever done only 2 he could not perform b/c the liver was too big and one of those included a patient whose liver was all the way to her belly button! Crazy!

2 week liquids. Syntrax Protein Shakes are awesome! Roadside Lemonade and Fuzzy navel flavors. 100 calories and 22 grams of Protein per scoop. I'm not big on mixing powders with Water, but these taste absolutely incredible in cold water.. nice alternative to vanilla, chocolate, strawberry.< /p>

I get banded July 1... can't wait!

I dont have a date set yet do to being on a six month supervised diet. I see the surgeon in August. My doctor told me they will require me to be on a two week liquid diet that will only consist of skim milk!!! Has anyone had to do this pre-op? I am in Vancouver, WA.

My 2 week liquid diet (2 weeks b4 surgery): 4 Protein Drinks, 3 daily 1 cp skim milk or light yogurt, 1 cup raw veggies, and 3 servings of benefiber powder mixed in Water. THATS it!! plus broth, water, tea, etc. I going to do it, but OH MY! How can I exercise with such a diet???

I'm required to lose 10-15 pounds before my surgery which is July 18th. But not required to be on a liquid diet. This week is my last junk week, so I've purchased some double stuffed oreos and they will be my LAST. :D

Reading everyone's suggestions I will probably do Slim Fast High Protein shakes, and up my veggie intake, and no sugar...God help me on that one!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
