How long to wait to see if you're too tight?

Recommended Posts

I just had my fourth fill on June 9th and I am now at 6.8 cc. I postponed this last fill three months as I felt I was "ok" still losing and ate just enough. The reason I went for this fill is that in the last month I was getting my hunger back and no weight loss in over a month so I figured ok I will go. She put in .8cc and since then I can't keep anything down. Today was the first day it was better. I had Soup and some salad and no pain at all and it stayed down. I am eating very very small portions and chewing and I have never had a problem since being banded. liquids are not a problem at all except for my Protein Shakes in the morning. I was wondering how long do I wait to see if I am too tight or give it more time and see how it goes? I have to say I was in the Keys on vacation this last week and it was so frustrating that ANYTHING I ate came back up no matter how small or how brothy the Soups were. Any advice? Thanks!

They say it takes 2 weeks for a fill to "settle in", but if you're still having big problems at 10 days I can't imagine 4 more days are going to work miracles for you. If I were you, I'd do in for a slight unfill. Good luck!

I would give it a couple more days. Normally I'd say you're too tight, but you were on vacation and that could have "stressed" your body on top of the fill, making you temporarily too tight. If you start having issues again though, I'd say go get a smidge taken out.

I would say to maybe get a small unfill...I went through something similar recently and my NP told me that if I couldnt keep anything down for several days that means you are too tight and you dont want your band to slip if everything is continually coming back up.

I had a fill last Monday and I did liquids and then mushies for a few days like my doctor advised. I ate a food on Thursday and it made me sick after a few bites. After sliming I threw up and I started to worry that maybe I was too tight as I had never had problems with that type of food before. So being the idiot I am I continued to try to eat food that evening and the next day. After every meal I started sliming and although I never got sick again I felt pretty yucky. (Spitting so much I felt that my hill billy genes had appeared) So on Saturday I read the posts on here and after reading I decided that I would go back to liquids for Sat and Sun thinking that maybe I had got my stomach irritated and was pushing it. If I wasnt able to eat on Monday without sliming then I was going to go to the doctor for a slight unfill. So the break really helped me. I was able to eat all my meals (small but normal) with out any slime. I am not saying medically what will work for you but this really helped me out. I hope that you find some relief and a slight unfill is not a bad thing. I read someone post that they had a little taken out and then the next month had that and more added with no problems. Go figure.

Thanks everyone!! I think doodlebugsmom has a good idea. Maybe I should go back to liquids a couple of days and let my stomach chill for a bit. I am able to keep down tuna fish and some chicken broth and scrambled eggs totally fine. Smaller portions to date still, but that is what I expect so I am going to try the liquids then give it a little more time.

I would love to say barely eating in almost two weeks that I have lost a lot of weight, but I haven't lost anything. I will call the Dr tomorrow too and see what they advise as well to be safe, but I feel ok and not hungry. Thanks again all for the advice I love getting support from people that actually know what they are talking about and are living this as well :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
