So I haven't lost a lot of weight, but with my food choices and exercise I am finally off ALLLLL of my meds! No more, diabetes meds...no more blood pressure meds...no more cholesterol meds! To me that is so exciting!!! I remember a little over a year ago being prescribed them and freaked out because my blood work was so bad. The Dr has now officially said continue with my weight loss and exercise regime and we will continue to monitor every three months, but NO MORE MEDS!!! So basically my message to everyone is keep on trying no matter how slow the weight loss or no matter the amount of weight loss it DOES HELP!

extraonme got a reaction from pastor o in How long to wait to see if you're too tight? Thanks everyone!! I think doodlebugsmom has a good idea. Maybe I should go back to liquids a couple of days and let my stomach chill for a bit. I am able to keep down tuna fish and some chicken broth and scrambled eggs totally fine. Smaller portions to date still, but that is what I expect so I am going to try the liquids then give it a little more time.
I would love to say barely eating in almost two weeks that I have lost a lot of weight, but I haven't lost anything. I will call the Dr tomorrow too and see what they advise as well to be safe, but I feel ok and not hungry. Thanks again all for the advice I love getting support from people that actually know what they are talking about and are living this as well

extraonme reacted to B-52 in No Fist Fill Till 28Th And GainingCould you get hold of your eating before you were banded? Probably not otherwise you would have not needed the surgery.
So all you can do is "White Knuckle" it for a while.
Also, sorry to say, the first fill des not mean anything will change. It is just the first of many before they get your band properly adjusted. Could take months!
Don't mean to bum you out, but people need to understand how this all works.

extraonme reacted to stateofzen in Unrealistic Weight Goal ??The only thing that may stand in your way is your age and the fact that 125 might not look as good on you now as it did when you were in your teens and twenties. But you get to set your goals, no one else.
I know that during the seminars that the local surgeons do, they continually warn people that they shouldn't have the surgery if they think they're going to be skinny when it's all over. I believe they do that because on average, most people won't lose all of their excess weight. But heck, just look around you here-- there are lots of super-star success stories from people at all ages and starting weights so obviously it IS possible with the a well-tuned band, a committed bandster, and possibly a little luck.

extraonme reacted to B-52 in Starting To Panic...Don't worry, you will get there.
This is a pet peeve of mine, when people start comparing how much they have in their band, as though if you have more or less, you are better off or worse than the next person.
I know it is not intended by most people. but there have been people here who have BRAGGED about not even having a fill and doing ok. It makes the next person feel as though they are doing something wrong.
The band is designed to be adjustable, to get the right amount of fluid for YOU to get to that "Green Zone", where the band operates optimally.
Anything less than that, then you are selling yourself short.

Thanks I appreciate that... But I joined a long time ago. That was a new email address, and they botched it up, and have me listed as a 1 year Bandster.
I keep giving them my old email address, and tell them to look me up ! I was here ! I can even look up my old posts as a October Bandster 2006. But they don't make the connection, or don't bother, because I never get a reply......
Anyway, you have lost a lot of weight ! CONGRATS ! So you are doing just fine, and holding your own ! Keep up the Great Work ! and never look back.
Shirley.

extraonme reacted to Dave_NW in Be honest....Sure, diet and exercise are easier. I've done it for years, and I've lost the same 20 pounds about a dozen times! Losing the weight is not the issue. It's keeping the weight off that is so hard. For me, banding was the end result of years of weight struggles, failing on every diet I ever tried, and realizing the clock was ticking. I'm not a young man, and how many more years of life would I have before chronic gross obesity finally killed me? Bandng was a fantastic option for me, and allowed me to finally get my weight under control. I will never look back, nor will I go back to being obese.
Now, nearly a year after surgery, I've lost 125 pounds. I have had ZERO reflux, slippage, vomiting, hair loss, not enjoying alcohol, water not going down, or pills not going down. I've been stuck a few times, and each time it was because I ate wrong. If I pay attention and eat as a bandster should, I do not get stuck, and I can eat anything I want. I've had seven fills, the last three of which were very small, to tweak my "green zone" so my band works properly. Fills are no worse than getting a shot. It's a non-issue. Constipation is related to what I'm eating, and how much Fiber I'm taking in. My digestion has slowed down because of my diet, but it's another non-issue. I take fiber as part of my daily diet, and when it's time to visit the bathroom, there are no issues on that score. It's a small price to pay for being over a hundred pounds lighter.
The decision you need to make is how many more years (and times) are you going to "get serious about diet?" If you could do it that way, you wouldn't be obese now, right? My honest advice is that if you have any doubts of being able to "get serious about diet," then have the surgery. If it doesn't work for you, then have it removed, and go back to chronic dieting. You have nothing to lose but your excess weight, right?
Good luck!
Dave

extraonme reacted to B-52 in Slimed; What is it???It's that feeling when you've got your head over the toilet, just waiting to vomit. The saliva comes and you do a lot of spitting.
No, it's not a good thing, unless you remember what brought it on, learn your lesson and swear ...... Never Again.
Chew, Chew, Chew.....small swallows. That's what I learned.
When I get stuck, it is usually within the first minute or two when I start eating, because I've forget the above lesson.

extraonme reacted to Spartan in I'm a total moron, amd i think i messed upI was being quite facetious.
Here's a link so you can look up the word.

I don't usually come back to threads I comment on. I simply write what I have to say, and then move on. But, in THIS case....I really had to come back and see if this was for real. Someone who actually did not KNOW what kind of surgery they had....and then scarfed a Big Mac shortly after whatever-surgery-it-was-that-they-had. Sounds too much like a joke.
Apparently not.
First, let me correct you on something.
You said:
"There was NO reason for the 'Geez' and 'You said it, you ARE a moron"
I did NOT say "you said it, you ARE a moron". I simply said "Uh.....Ok. YOU said it." YOU added the rest.
Try re-reading what I actually wrote. There is some serious truth in there, whether you choose to believe or not.
And yes, you did say "you don't have to tell me I messed up." But I did anyway. Because you DID "mess up", and simply telling people that you already knew that does not make that fact go away. And, it's little different than eating a bite of cake or something. You mouthed a complete BIG MAC. "Fast", as you put it. That's not something you just "do". You have to go and BUY it. It takes a little time to consume. You did have some time to THINK about this. But...it's your body, your life.

"The last time I checked these were 'support' forums not 'big bitch' forums!"
People say that a lot here when someone says something they don't like to hear.. This is NOT "Lap Band Support.com", It's not "LapBandHandholding.com", it's not LapBandWhinerPacification.com"....it's not a LOT of things.
It IS LapBandTalk.
It is a place to exchange INFORMATION. Support might be considered a part of that, but "support" means different things to different people.
If YOU think that "support" means simply giving you a pat on your little head and telling you everything is ok, then you are wrong. Real support means telling you how it IS, rather than telling you what you WANT TO HEAR. In your case, though, it would appear that listening might be an issue. Like listening to your doctor when he explains what kind of surgery you are going to have.
You said:
"Honey, you were pretty much the opposite of UNrude... you were RUDE."
Cupcake, I'm not all that sure that "Unrude" is an actual word. You might be a Moron (YOUR words), but at least you are creative.
Rude? Hardly. Blunt, yes. Correct in what I am saying to you? Absolutely.

extraonme reacted to rktaurus71 in 50lbs down!! 1st Goal !!Hi Extraonme - Just want to shout out support. I am NOWHERE near my goal. I was banded at the beginning of december, gained some weight during the holidays and now am back on track. I just had another fill. I've only lost about 20 lbs. Fingers crossed--hang in there --- you're great for doing this. We all struggle and from what I've been told once the fills are at the proper place, it gets easier
