Losing weight sort of scary fast

Recommended Posts

So I've been trying not to freak out, but I am a little. I'm losing weight scary fast. I had my band in on the 8th, and I've lost 20 pounds. That seems really fast to me. Could it be just Water weight? I'm trying really hard to get enough calories in, I have been tracking them, and writing everything down, and I've been able to get between 900-1000 in each day. I'd like to get 1200, but I feel full after I eat (just started mushies).

My plan is to add some more Protein powder into the shakes that I blend up, and maybe have full fat cottage cheese instead of low fat. I think I can get to 1200 that way.

If anyone else has some more good suggestions, I would love to hear them! I'm going to peruse the threads for some good mushie recipes. I never thought I'd have to fight to get in enough calories, lol.

I assume that the weightloss will slow down soon? The reason I got the band was so that it would be more gradual and in my opinion healthy. This is kind of freaking me out. BUT I do feel really healthy and have tons of energy. Maybe it's just what my body is supposed to do right now.

Thanks for all advice ahead of time.

It's very normal, and yes, it will slow down soon. I lost fast the first 3 or so weeks after surgery, -- between May and June I've only lost 9 pounds.

Enjoy it while it lasts :) A lot of people starting at higher BMI's see super big losses in the beginning (I did too), and yes, a lot of it is Water weight. But it will eventually slow down to a more reasonable place. Just make sure you're taking the Vitamin supplements that your doc requires and you'll be fine!

I was banded June1st, and lost 20lbs in 11 days. I'm at 18 days po now and have only lost an additional 1 in the past week. Your body will definetily slow it down. I figured I stopped losing because the majority of mushie foods were carbs - but it's more likely that my body just freaked out and is holding onto everything now. Good Luck!!!

I think you're going to have to change how you look at weight loss with the band. I say that because you've lost a pound a day for 9 days and you say you're "down ONLY 9lbs". You should lose 1 to 2 pounds a WEEK with the band. I say be thankful for every pound.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
