My surgeon told me that I should only eat about a cup each sitting(and that's about all I can eat)... I was wondering how some of you are able to have full meals with the band?? Also I was wondering if anyone has had any troubles with the band while flying or is it just a myth. I am flying to Florida for the 4th of July and am a bit concerned with this. Please reply! Thanks everyone!

What do you mean by full meals? And per flying you should be fine. I had a 5 hour flight to Vegas and was fine.

I have traveled a couple of times this last year and never had any issues with flying. Your 1 cup at each meal will be your "full meal" :)

My normal meal is 3-4 oz Protein and 1/2 cup veggies...that works out to about 1 1/2 cups of food (depending on the protein) and I consider that a "full meal". I think that with the band, you definition of "full meal" changes. As far as flying goes, I have flown 3 times in the 6 months I have had my band and I have never had any issues...the people that I know of who have issues appear to be more affected by the elevation level change from one place to the other (i.e, flying from Denver which is high altitude to New Orleans which is below sea level can affect your restriction). Even though I haven't ever had an issue, I still pack Protein powder just in case I have problems with being too tight after a flight.

Last night I made burgers, corn on the cob, and a salad for dinner. I weighed the buger 3oz and a small side salad with chick peas. I was only able to eat half the buger w/out the bun and half the salad and I was full. You have to listen to your stomach. Before the band a full meal would have been two burgers on the bun with all the toppings, a salad, and corn on the cob, but the meaning of a "full meal " will change after the band.

Last night my "full meal" was a bowl of black bean Soup. Surprisingly enough I ate the whole thing, although it took about 45 minutes! In time your idea of what a full meal is will change and your eyes will no longer be bigger than your stomach. (Pre-lapband my eyes must have been HUGE!)

The only problem I have had flying is not fitting in the seat. LOL.

I fit just fine now and I have flown quite a bit and have never had any problem at all. B)

I worried about flying too and when I flew I had no problems. It actually kept the hunger away longer. I lost weight while traveling.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
