sex drive after lapband

Recommended Posts

I had the band put in Feb 28, 2011. So a little over 3 months ago. I have lost about 40 lbs in the past 4 months. I figured my sex drive would have increased, but unfortunately, I have little or no libido right now :(. It is extremely frustrating for me! I feel great about myself and am wondering what is wrong. Am I the only one with a lowered sex drive?

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one! I've lost 38 pounds in 3 months and dropped two sizes, but I feel like I had more libido before the surgery. Weird.

Jenn, I am glad I am not alone in this either. I am hoping it is just a hormonal thing with the rapid weightloss. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon. I definitely had a higher sex drive prior to surgery---extra fat and all.

My drive is the same as before surgery. My surgery was 4/28/11. Unfortunately, I have noticable discomfort at my port site during sex. It kills the mood for me immediately, everytime. I am hoping the port discomfort goes away soon so I can get back to enjoying sex.

OMG, it went sky high!! My husband is loving it. I actually discussed it with my doctor and he said the loss of weight has given me a lot more energy and feeling better about myself has made me feel more confident. So, a huge yes, my husband and I are reaping the rewards of my weight loss!!! B)

Today I just read in the book Bandwagon that as you ose fat estrogen is release into your system and if your estrogen levels supercede your testerone levels (or something like that) your libedo can decrease. I would discuss it with your doctor if it becomes a real issue-maybe even your GYN.

My partner is LOVING it, but honestly, he and I have always had a really good sex life, and I weighed almost 100 pounds more than I do now when I met him. He just loves me for me no matter what size I am, but I think he's secretly happy that I feel more confident and that I am more limber and able to be more active. (Sorry for the TMI)

I completely lost my sex drive about 1 year after my surgery, and I haven't found it yet. On the other hand, with me losing weight and looking better, my husband wants sex more often. It's not a good mix. :-( I get the feeling that my experience isn't really normal though.

I haven't been banded yet (1.5 weeks! eek!) but my husband has lost about 60lbs (no wls, just on his own) and I've lost about 40 from my heaviest. The weight loss makes a big difference - we both like how much closer we're able to get (physically), which makes it more intimate. And frankly - the man is looking hot these days. wink.gif And he reads this forum so he'll probably see this sooner or later. cool.gif

I saw it, and Thanks for thinking I'm hot! I agree, it has improved our sex life a lot...and even if Mandilou's sex drive dips or diminishes after surgery, it isn't going to be a huge thing for me...I know that stuff can happen, and I've always said that there is much more than just physical stuff in a relationship :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
