Pain on my bellybutton?

Recommended Posts

I had "Lapband" surgery on 05-13-2011 and I feel pain on belly button. It feels like a 1/2" small bulge. I still haven't visit my doctor for my first post-op visit. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Has it happend to anyone?

Your port is near your belly button that is why it might be sore. The area will be swollen because the surgery was near that area.

I would say it is normal and you should be ok. When do you see your doctor?

Thanks for responding.... I think you may be right. I'm just scared that I did something I shouldn't of done. I'm making sure I don't pick up anything heavy. I called last thursday to schedule post-op appt, but nobody called me back. Plus I called my doctor on friday, because i had a lot of pain that persisted for 3 days. I had pain on my right side hip area. It started so slowly then into a dull pain. I will call tomorrow and I will schedule my post-op appt by this week.

Did you also have that type of pain on your hip area? Or how about the left shoulder pain that lasted for about a day? That was weired for me.... My doctor warned me about the shoulder pain. He said it would be normal.

Thanks!

Your port might be on your right side. It could be about in your hip level area. I am sure the pain is just from healing. Some people experience pain for a month since your port is sewn to your muscle.

As for the shoulder pain, everyones experience is different. I never got the left should pain with my first band. However once my band was removed I started to get the pain even though I no longer had the band.

When I had the balloon in my stomach, if I ate too much once I would have lower back pains for hours sometimes a day or two. It was really unpleasent.

This time around with a different band, I sometimes get the shoulder pain. Your body is adjusting to this new foreign object in you. This will take time.

My body had problems accepting my tubing once I was rebanded and I was on meds forever because I was afraid of an infection and it took nearly a month before my chest felt normal again.

I understand how you worry trust me I have been there, hopefully you can see your doc soon to reassure you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
