Extreme PMS/cramping AFTER band?

Recommended Posts

my whole life if I haven't been on a birth control that limits my periods my menstrual cramps are so severe that I vomit, have an upset stomach, and radiating pain throughout my torso for a few days before, the whole time during, and a day or so after my period. I got Implanon (impant in your arm) in October and i haven't had a period since then (which is a good thing!). I was banded on 3/3 and now I DO have a period with all the old familiar symptoms. Did anyone else's menstrual cycle get worse after you were banded? I'm trying to figure out if there could be an underlying issue :-/

I thought I was going to die when I got my period after I was banded (which was a week post op). It was awful, painful and lasted 7 days! I am just gonna wait and see hat happens with my next one. The nurses I worked with seemed to think it was related t the surgery and was a 1 time thing. Hope it gets better for you!

this is the 3rd month of it and this time i've never puked so much in my life. If I didn't know any better I would think I had a stomach virus, but I've had all these symptoms before as a milder version.

Laughing at the post complaining about a period that lasted 7 days. That sounds like heaven to me. My last 2 periods lasted 25 and 40 days respectively!

I am now day 6 post hysterectomy so no more periods for me . YAY. I don't think the band actually had any effect on my cycle though , just one of those unfortunate sideeffects of getting older.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
