Should I wait an extra 2 weeks for my first fill?

Recommended Posts

Need your advise PLEASE!! I was banded on April 9, 2011. I am now just over 3 weeks post op and have not had my first fill. I wanted to get my first fill at 4 weeks which would be this coming Sat. May 7th because i dont want to gain any of the weight that i have already lost. However my doctor will be out of town until May 21st which means that I would not get my first fill until 6 weeks out. May choices are to pay for another doctor to do my fill this weekend or wait 2 more weeks for my doctor to do my first fill at NO COST to me. Im just terrified to gain any weight that i have already lost because I wont have any restrictions. Any suggestions? Should I wait and save money or pay and get a fill this weekend??

I didn't have my first fill for two months and never gained a pound. Just watch what you eat.

I'd wait. Unless you're truly starving all the time, you won't gain and you'll be fine.

When I went to my first fill appointment, I was asked a bunch of questions. My doctor determined that I really didn't fill yet and I didn't get my first fill until I was 3 months out.

I really wouldn't want go to a doctor I didn't know just because I had to wait a couple of weeks.

If you havent gained so far you wont gain. Fills do not stop you from gaining weight.

I would wait too. I think 6 weeks is the most common anyway. At this stage in the journey it is about healing well and learning to "diet" the bandster way. I think you will be better off with your own surgeon doing all your fills.

Just keep eating like you've already been filled and wait! I wouldn't trust a "new" doctor either.

Wait for your doctor to return. You'll be fine! You probably won't have much restriction after your first fill anyway.

I waited 7 weeks for my first fill. I am so afraid of needles it took me that long to be prepared for the first fill.

My doc wanted me to get a fill at 4 weeks but i said no way and made an appointment for 2 weeks later I then pushed back for another week.

Long story short, though my weight loss was slow by the time the 7th week came, I didnt gain any weight without a fill.

Don't worry! I would wait for my doc to come back. 6 weeks isn't that long.

This can be a good time for you to get used to the band and still learn new eating habits. Remember the band is a tool not a magic wand. Your first fill won't stop you from eating bad things

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
