I forgot to add that I was banded on Jan 11, 2011. Lost 25 pounds right away first 3-4 weeks because I was so ill after my surgery. But then, it just stalled- for about 4weeks- no real activity. Now at 3 months post op- I'm losing again- with no fill at all.

i am 4 weeks post op and lost 13lbs on the liquid diet and once i started eating food 3 weeks ago i haven't lost anything. i have played around with my calories going from 700 to 1000 and still nothing. am walking every day, getting all my Water, Protein, carbs etc. i would understand if i stalled for a week or so but to stall for 3 weeks seems like a long time. am being patient with it, but am just confused. also, i don't feel like i need a fill because i have pretty good restriction with nothing in my band. also, if i get it filled, my calories would drop WAY down and push me into starvation mode, wouldn't it?

Don't get too frustrated at your weight loss so far. My surgeon warned me that weight loss quite likely will slow for the 6 weeks post surgery because our body is healing. Plus, if you had a liquid diet for any length of time, once you go back on solid foods it's pretty normal to stabilize out and not lose for a bit.

We can argue until the cows come home about whether or not there is such a thing as 'starvation mode' but I'm not even going to go there. Instead I'll just say that we all have a point where we lose weight the most efficiently...and all we can do is tweak our diet until we find that point. If you're not doing it already, I'd record everything you eat in fitday.com (or something similar). That way it gives you a starting point for tweaking.

Some people do well on 800 calories. Some do better on 1200. Some do well just counting calories. Some of us have to count carbs as well.

So, ok...I'm going to go 'there' ;)...studies show that people lose faster on a low carb/high fat diet than they do on a low carb/low fat diet, so you might try that.

As for the fill...my surgeon said 'hunger' was the only reason to get a fill, so if you're not hungry and you can still eat the foods you need to (protein and vegies), sounds like you're at your sweet spot.

I completely understand your frustration. I was banded March 9th. Since surgery I have only lost about 3 pounds. I had one really good week of weight loss (3.5 pounds) and then gained a pound back last week. I know I am healing but it is still frustrating. I guess I feel normal and don't realize how much my body must still be healing. I sure hope some weight starts coming off soon. I am starting to deal with hunger more and more every day. I get my first fill April 26 so hopefully that will help with the hunger issue.

Melody, it seems like you really have some insight and certainly experience since it seems you have been very successful. I have a question: What is WOE? I have read a couple of Dr. Bernsteins books, and seeing that it has worked for you, I think I will pull them out of the shelves and reread. I am 6 days postop. Kelley

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
