I was banded on March 10th and I am getting my first fill tomorrow. I am excited I made it through the first month. The past four weeks have been hard, but I am now 47 lbs down (pre op plus this last month) so I guess it has been pretty successful. I am bummed about having to go back on all liquids tomorrow and then mushies the day after. I used to love Soup, but just the thought of it now makes me cringe.

I have read somewhere on here that after you have your band and the swelling goes down, its like not having it because you do not have any fill yet so its like its not there. so that might be why you can eat anything... but be careful with doing that so that you dont gain back what you have lost already and so that you dont stretch out your pouch... I feel like I can eat anything too... but I do get full alot quicker than ever before... and if i cant tell if i am full i just stop eatting after eatting my alotted amount.... good luck to you and I hope that helps you!

I was banded on the 18th, I loss 27lb so far, but I can eat anything with no problem sometimes I feel like I don't have a band, which really have me concern... I don't eat a lot of food. Am I doing something wrong?

Well I had my one week post op check up today. Down 4 pounds since surg. (not including the 8 I gained in the OR) I am really happy with my decision. The PA asked me if I had ventured beyond the full liquids yet to mushy and told her I had with no problem of a scrambled egg. She said to continue to progress as tolerated with the emphasis on the Protein and the Water. Last night was my DH's BDay the kids were teasing me that I didn't make Daddy a cake, but I did make him chocolate Protein Ice Cream with bits of fresh strawberries. He said that he really enjoyed it. I thought it was delish. The ice cream maker is constantly on the counter now-ready for ice cream at any moment. Great way to get in your protein and feel like you are cheating. Have a great night all.

Heeeeeeeeeeeey, everyone! I had my wound check/2 week appointment today! My Dr said I will be a "super star" with the band! He is pleased with my progress so far and I am, too!

I am down 24 pounds since I began my preop diet, 9 since surgery. I am so pleased with the results this far.

I do get hungry but I am satisfied very easily. I do not have any Fluid in my band. I am having a hard time battling head hunger but I am not losing this battle! I did not go through all this to fail.

Next week I can start adding in more foods. I can't wait! I am sick of Soup and liquids! I am having a hard time wrapping my head around thinking LESS liquidy foods (sliders) and going more for ACTUAL food - because for the past 2 weeks (and even before surgery) it's been ALL about the liquids!

I hope everyone is hanging in there and doing well! I love my band!

Now i also feel i havent lost any weight although i have been walking way more than i ever thought i would and have been pretty good with my calorie intact ( give or take a few weak days where i couldnt take it anymore!)

First fill Monday 11th cant wait to finally get this show on the road.

Banded 16/3/11. BMI before pre-op diet was 40. BMI now 35.6. Weightloss to date 10.5 kilos.

I have a seroma which is painful but will go naturally I am told. It is Fluid in a pocket formed when the surgeon cut into the muscle area to fix in my port. It is the size of a tennis ball and looks awful but there is no infection.

My eating has been ok but I still like a drink of wine, though it takes all night to get through one small glass, which is good.

I am craving bread and pastries - tried half a savoury scone yesterday and was crippled by excruciating pain from indigestion, like knives in my back and buckled over.

I will be glad when things settle down with regards to the surgical side so that the pain lessens.

I haven't lost anything this week, because I have been extremely inactive with pain. Trying to go to the gym now though - I reckon increased exercise will either increase the Fluid in the seroma or help it to dissipate through my body so I need to conduct a little experiment and see what the results are.....

I have a seroma too! It's very annoying. My doc actually drained it when it became too painful to ignore. More tight then painful, truth be told. Of course it's already come back and yes the size of a tennis ball!!! I have some redness around the area but no leaking from the already closed incision. my doc gave me some antibiotics to make sure there is no infection. He said he definitely doesn't want infection near the port!

I am also afraid to do too much in fear that I will increase the fluid in the seroma!! I'm going to see the doc on Wednesday and hope he clears it up as my first fill is scheduled for 4/27!

Hello all, I was banded on March 18th,2011. Lost rapid weight the first 2 weeks while on liquids, a total of 27 pounds. Went back to my Dr. appt. last week where he told me I lost all that weight on my own because there is no Fluid in my band and wide open with no restrictions. I wish he hadn't told me that because now temptation is now showing it's ugly face. I've done really good this past week only eating fish, vegetables, and fruits. The only problem is that my weight loss has slowed down dramatically. I am still walking 2 miles a day. Can't wait for my fill in 3 weeks........

Hi all!

Doing ok here. My 2 incisions that have had trouble healing are doing much better. I'm still hungry often, and am so looking forward to my 1st fill next wednesday!! I'm retaining Water like carzy so am working on flusing that today and hoping to see the scale start moving again tomorrow. I'm starting to get a bit bored with my usual food options so need to start finding some new options. I'll have open faced corn tortillas with refried Beans, lettuce, and onion for lunch today. I have found I can do corn products but most flour breads/tortillas etc cause too much pain.

I forgot to mention that yesterday at my post op visit the PA again stressed the importance of 60grams of Protein per day. She said that when most people say that they are not loosing weight but are taking in X amount of calories and burning off Y amount of calories it is usually that they are not getting in enough protein. So mix up the protein pudding, drinks, ice cream etc. and see if that helps fill you up and if the numbers go down. Had scrambled eggs this am that went well, but a slice of crisp rye toast made me feel so tired and sluggish-learned my lesson. didn't get sick just felt lke garbage. Have a great Sunny Saturday!!

I really need to do a better job of counting my Protein. I suspect I'm lacking. I know my goal per the nutritionist is 55-60, but I'm aiming for 60+. I've fallen in love with Greek Yogurt & liquid egg stuff (lower calories & colesterol). I still have a lot of my preop Protein powder and may need to add a shake a day.

Do any of you know what average Protein count is for 4 ounces of different meats..like beef, pork, salmon, white fishes, turkey, chicken?

Marcyloo

I can tell you that 3 oz's of

chicken breast=27

lean ground beef = 24

tuna=18

salmon=15

egg=6

motzerella(sp)=6

those are the things I eat most so I can spout that off the top of my head... I have a list of all the amount of protien for many different things... I you want some specific things let me know and ill see if its on my list... I also use caloriecount.com if you type in what you are looking for it gives you everything you need to know about it... I use that alot if i eat something I am not sure about... it also has alot of resturant menu items so that you can see what you had...

hope this helps!:D

Hey - Just wondering how you guys are doing with the weight loss? Any change? I am starting to see more and more situations like this and happy I am not alone. The weird part with me is that my doc filled my band w 6cc during my surgery and still I guess its not enought and pretty much following my plan but no weight loss after the liquid diet only gain of 3lbs.....

I'm with you!! I lost 16 lb. in the first two weeks, I'm a month and 4 days post op, and haven't lost anything sense my first doc visit!! It's so frustrating, But tomorrow I'm having my first fill, and they say that's REALLY when you start to lose it!!

Don't let it get to you, it Will come off… be patient!!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

        That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
