May 2010; 112lbs or so with 12 more to go. I didn't really have any comorbidities, just my BMI was above 40 though I do think I had sleep apnea as I always woke up with headaches/migraines and I was always tired; that's gone now! But, I can now exercise for hours on end, run to no end, go up stairs within feeling winded, wear size 4 jeans, wear 4 inch heels with NO problems...and so on. :)

I welcome the opportunity to brag lol. I was banded Nov. 16 09. I lost 107 pounds in 10 months. I had high blood pressure, diebeties and high cholesteral. They are all gone now, no meds for any of them. That was probably the most exciting thing that happened. Well that, and fitting into some size 0 clothes- who would have thought.

Since surgery, I'm averaging out at about 1 lb or less per week. I was taking a long acting insulin the morning and one with each meal. As of December, I'm diet controlled. However, that's not just due to losing weight. It's because I eat less than 30gm of carb per day and it's all in the form of vegies. No wheat products, no gluten, no grains, no potatoes, etc.

sleep apnea is gone, joint and muscle aches gone (attributed to the change in diet, not necessarily the weight). General overall health is improved. All lab work in normal ranges.

I was banded Jan 10th, 2011. Since I began this journey I have lost 26 lbs. Its been slow to lose the weight, but my body has certainly changed. I no longer have to take any insulin and my last A1C test last week was 6.0, officially in the normal, non diabetic range! Issues I use to have with intimacy and ED are GONE! My wife commented to me this morning that if I never lost another pound that we would be able to consider this lifestyle change a success. It has not been easy by any means, but it is definately been well worth it to have done this. Never give up or give in to the demons inside of you!

Hello,

I was banded in April 2009. The first year I lost 107 pounds. In total I have lost 116 pounds. My high blood pressure is gone and I no longer take meds. Also, my hypothyroidism is gone. I feel great and have a great deal of energy to spare. I can no longer sit still and watch television with all the energy I have.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
