I finally got my date. All it took was me being a squeaky wheel

Recommended Posts

I have wanted this for roughly 1 1/2 to 2 years now and it has been a rough ride. When I became a diabetic, I have done a lot to try and make my health better. Getting rid of the symptoms of diabetes is my main goal, those of you who have gone through shots and pills can confirm that diabetes sucks. I went from being in awesome shape in the military to being almost 340 lbs in the span of 7 years and I am only 28. I have lost weight and then gained it all back and more time after time. Because of this I refused to let anything get in my way and I pushed as fast as could to get all my appointments done quickly. Once I got all those done I have had to push the insurance person daily to just fax those damn papers in. I got excuse after excuse and then she went on vacation. I came to find out that my papers were in her office locked up and somehow no one in the entire hospital had a key. My insurance company even called me 3 times saying that they were stuck and couldn't move forward without her, but they couldn't reach her and she wasn't returning their calls. Needless to say I found that unacceptable and I made it my mission to bother her to the point of submitting my papers just to get me off her back. This morning she submitted my papers and less than two hours later I was approved. All that waiting for less than 2 hours of deciding. In all this I get some good news and my date was moved up to March 10th from March 24th. That means I have to stop by and pick up all my preop diet stuff tomorrow and actually begin my diet.

Another upside is I can't believe how supportive my boss and team at work have been. Anytime I mention the word appointment my boss is more than happy to accommodate any time I need off to handle appointments at the hospital. I think I am her guinea pig and she is seeing how my recovery and progress are so she can see if this is for her too so that is a plus.

At home I have an amazing support system, especially since my sister has had her band for 12 months now and I have someone who has been there to help me on my way.

March 10th has been a long time coming.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
