I was allowed eggs after my first week... seems like each dr. has different standards. I could go to mushies after a week and eggs were considered mushies. Take it slow!

Call your doctor before changing your diet! You are lucky if you can have cream of wheat. I was on Clear Liquids for one week and full liquids for another week, week three I could have cottage cheese. No eggs until week 4! You can do SERIOUS damage to your stomach if it is churning and POPS the stiches holding your band in place. Do you want to risk that? Personally I would add additional servings of the food you are allowed; and or spread out your the items that you are eating. I would have Soup and/or broth and an hour later have the Protein Shake. At my two week check up I asked if I could move to the next stage 3 days early. The nurse said "Absolutely NOT".

Every doc has different regulations. My surgeon had me back on solids in 2 weeks but on day 5 I was still doing mushies.

Remember, you're still healing and the last thing you want to do is get stuck...a very real possibility even without a fill because you may still have swelling.

Seriously. . suck it up!! Check with your doctor, but you should be able to eat plenty of yummy things during the full liquids phase. Why don't you buy some turkey chili and blend it with some chicken broth and Greek yogurt (tastes like sour cream)? Or you can do banana smoothies with skim milk and maybe a dash of cinnamon and sugar? You have to get creative. It's worth a trip to Whole Foods or some other spot to buy some delicious Soups that you will enjoy -- then just blend them up and thin them with broth if you have to. This phase really does not have to be a huge deprivation phase -- there are plenty of delicious liquid things that you can enjoy without going off the rails.

BTW, when you get to mushies. . don't forget about FF refried Beans and cheese. . yum. Was a staple for me during that phase!

Best wishes,

Catherine

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
