My docs do, but I don't know if that's universal practice. The only discomfort I feel during a fill is the tiny prick of the needle with the local anaesthetic.

I didn't get any numbing... but it wasn't bad at all. Just uncomfortable. My port is easy to find and nice and flat they told me, so it wasn't bad at all! Good Luck!

They don't even bother with the numbing...and it's okay! I was really nervous beforehand, but I swear...she was in and done before I could say, "Ready or not!" I know there have been some other bad experiences reported, but mine was easy peasy, both times!

mine was very easy - no problem other than I was in a room with what seemed like a learning convention.....

Why me = when they aren't even paying me to be the star....hey - where was my chair? My stylist? Anything....

May I recommend buying LMX cream (4% lidocaine topical cream) from the drug store. You do not need a script but they keep it behind the pharmacy and the cost is around $60 per large tube. You may need to order it if they do not keep it in stock - which takes 2 - 4 days depending on the pharmacy.

You apply to the area approximately 2 hours before your fill time....cover it with plastic wrap so that it will not get on your clothing. About 10 minutes before getting your fill, wipe off the excess and you should be completely numb. I cannot feel the needle at all - which is GREAT!

I've never been numb and that's been OK for me. The only time it really hurt was when the doctor missed the port and stuck me in my stomach, now that's painful!

I get numbed. The whole fill is so fast I dont know if I would be bothered even if he didn't, but glad he does anyway.

I get numbed and don't even feel the numbing "prick." The surgeon said that most don't find fills uncomfortable without the numbing...No pain, for me, what-so-ever.

My doc asked me if I would freak without being numbed and I said 'nah' but guess what I must be a baby because it was uncomfortabel so next time I'm going to ask to be numbed. I should also say that I was getting flouro while the needle was in so maybe that was it???? I don't know, but it hurt me ;) Next time I'll know better! Why be in pain if you don't have to?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
