Recommended Posts

Ok so today I get my first fill! What should I expect? Should I eat and drink before I go or not?

Eating and drinking is fine, though they will likely weigh you, so don't eat too much and remember that Water weighs 8.333lbs per gallon.

I was surprised at my first fill that I could feel the saline going in. The saline was room temp, so it felt cool (literally) going in. The doc gave me a local, so no real pain involved, though there was/is an occasional "Ugh" moment. I was made to drink a cup of Water - a sip at a time - to make sure I didn't have too much restriction. In my case, I have an 11cc band, had 3cc when installed and the doc added 2cc at my first fill. I had some restriction, which lasted for about 2 weeks. (You will most likely need to go on a liquid diet for a day or so.)

Enjoy the fill! Write down any questions you have for your doc.

I had my first fill last week. I didn't feel a thing!!! Since my fill, I have noticed that I am not as "starved" as I felt prior. In fact, very little food fills me up, and I am very satisfied. I was told to be on liquids the day of the fill and again the following day. I am eating regular again (no/low carb diet). Again....I feel wonderful since my first fill, and I'm positive the pounds will begin to "melt" off!!

funny I just came home from my first fill... I had it done at the hospitial under flurioscopy it was painless. i felt a little weird pressure. i drank small sips of barium and we watched it go down and tru the band. he had started with 1 cc's and then added 2... 2 was too much it wouldnt go thru and we watched it go back up ( I think it was cool ) made me feel like i wanted to vomit.. he took out .5 and now it is perfect ! i am on liquid for 24 hrs I didnt eat before I went...then i start with mushies tomorrow for 24 hrs if all that is good then i can go back to regular food... my dr did tell me some dr's never do this some do this for the first fill but he does it for every fill. he can see how my band is doing and how much Fluid to add. I even came home withs 5 pics !

good luck !

Amy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
