Hi there! I was just banded Jan. 17 so I am almost 2 wks. post op. I lost total of 26 lbs. so far. The worst part I think was the 2 wk. pre op liquid Protein diet then the 1 wk. post op Liquid Protein diet honestly. It was worse than the operations. After the operation - the worse part is the gas pains that stay in your shoulders, chest, neck or back. Horrible. Walking alot helps and pain meds of course. You must stick to and follow the advice of your Dr. though especially the diet part. If you try to eat something you shouldn't after the surgery, you can definitely feel it and it is very painful. Like a spasm. You have to be patient and give your body plenty of time to heal. The wt. loss will come later and exercise. And get plenty of rest. Just baby yourself for a while. If you have any questions, please ask. If I can answer them, I will. I am still learning from others myself. This forum is awesome. People are so nice and generous of their time to answer your questions and concerns. Take care and keep us posted. :)

hi thank you for the info.. when i had my meeting with my surgen he told me i will have to go on a just yoghurt diet for the week before the opp and i agree with you i do think that the pre opp diet will be worse then the opp. i not to worried about the sticking to the diet after the opp coz i got my mum here and she will def make sure i follow it lol..

one thing i wonna ask is did u just spend the night in hospital, i was told u do but just checking..

I was soooo nervous before my surgery! You are definitely not alone. But, honestly, two years later the surgery is in the past and I'm losing weight and much healther. The hardest part for me was the liquid diet for two weeks after the surgery (at least that's my surgeon's protocol after surgery.) Just keep telling yourself, you will get through and be thrilled with the initial weight loss afterwards. I agree with roseyposey, my pain initially after surgery was the gas pains. Once that was gone, I felt great. I can honestly say I think having my gall bladder removed was ten times worse! (That happened because I lost 70 pounds very quickly after surgery - I guess that's a good thing, I was happy with the weight loss.) So, I initially lost 70 pounds, was happy, and now I'm trying to lose the last approximately 56 (for a total loss of about 150 pounds, my ticker below is my current goal.)

I wish you lots of luck and know you will be happy with your lapband!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
