I cheated on my Pre-Op Liquid Diet...

Recommended Posts

I feel like a loser today. I was giving my grandson a snakable and I ended up eating two of those little crackers and two bits of turkey. I was doing so good staying with the liquids. I hope this is not a weakness that will continue. :(

If anybody says they NEVER cheated, I don't believe them. For the most part, I stuck to it, but there were a couple days of pre-op during the liquid diet I couldn't take it, and I had a small portion of tuna, and another day I stole a few tater tots. It helped a lot and I still lost 9 pounds in 7 days. I read up on liver shrinking diets, if you must cheat try to consume only Protein :)

Thanks Mattie, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who has found this hard. Congrates on the weight loss.

I'll confess too, then...only day 4 and I have cheated as well. :( It's gotten easier each day but days 1 and 2 I was about to lose my mind. Actually started crying today for no reason while cooking for my husband (I blame watching 'Bridges of Madison County'...lol). At first it was the temptation that was hard, now my body is actually beginning to react physically to the restriction and is punishing me. Part of me wonders if they make it horribly restrictive on purpose knowing that people will cheat a little and still be able to lose weight; it's a dark day indeed when I'm looking longingly at a can of corn!!! LOL. Stay strong, ladies; we can do this.

On day 5 of liquid diet and going to be banded on January 10th. First couple of days not so bad as I was in a cleaning frenzy. Yesterday went swimming at the Y. Felt like chewing my arm off after that...lol. I'm allowed cream of wheat...ick so instead I pureed oatmeal in the blender. Surprisingly filling but I was still hungry so I cheated with a big spoon of peanut butter...aaahhhhhhh. My theory ( and I'm sticking to it ) was that Peanut Butter is kind of liquid when its warm and there are no chunks in the creamy kind. Masterful rationalization don't you think...lmao

Ohhhhh....you must have the 14 day diet where you're allowed the one small meal thing huh? You get 2 more weeks after surgery of then mushy foods....but hey "this too shall pass" :)

Ladies I feel ya. Day 5 for me, surgery on Tuesday. I don't really feel hungry which is great. But, I seem to have this hightened sense of smell now. We passed a local chicken place today and i just about jumped out of the car and ran. I had to cover my nose with my sweatshirt and pray that this too will pass. Ummmm fried chicken, what I wouldn't give a wing right now.

My hubby was eating a salad today and all I wanted was a piece of freakin lettuce. Lawd have mercy.

My question is , how will cheating just a weee little bit affect your outcome.

Oh yeah! That happened to me too! I was almost gagging at some smells!

I cheated a weeee little bit, but try to keep it to Protein if you must since you're trying to shrink the liver.

Good luck, you'll survive and be happy!

I noticed a lot of you said that if you're going to cheat, "cheat with protein". I am confused because my doc limits your Protein intake during the last week prior to surgery. NO more than 20 gm.

So, to me cheating with protein would be just as bad.

Just a question, cuz I am not really getting this whole shrink your liver thing ? All I want is some She Crab Soup.

I wasn't allowed any food or Protein at all! Just Clear liquids ie, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, sugar free drinks and broth. So when I snatched a bite of "protein" that was cheating!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
