Sleep Study Results w/CPAP Question

Recommended Posts

Pulmonologist's office called to tell me that I sleep study results came back and I have "severe sleep apnea." I am going to see Resp. Therapist tomorrow to begin using CPAP. Pulmonologist is expected to clear me on Friday when he discusses full report with me.

Question: Do you wear your CPAP during the surgery?

Thx

No CPAP during surgery, but they will most likely intubate you. You will need to take it to the hospital with you if you're staying overnight, however.

If you stay overnight in the hospital, your surgeon will require that you have your CPAP with you.

Although mine required my CPAP machine for every and all surgeries I've had they've never actually had me use it. In the hospital room I'd be hooked up directly to their oxygen machine with a nose plug. They monitored me in the hospital and kept tabs. If for some reason I wasn't breathing "enough" they'd call down to my room to tell me to take deeper breaths with my oxygen, lol. I'm sure they're all different but if they require that you bring it then bring it anyway whether you use it or not. Good luck to you Nancy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
