Just Starting out and I am I little confused

Recommended Posts

I have been considering this for years, but I would always say let me try one more time with a new diet... So this morning I said the heck with this I need to call the insurance co. and find out what I need to do...

I picked Dr. Pomp @ cornell I have met him before ( my husband works with him )

I want to make sure I have everything with me before I have my consult with him in January

1) UHC said I need a Pre Determination Letter who does that come from the surgeon or my PCP because my PCP is against elective surgery when I saw her 2 mos ago and told her I was considering it she wasn't happy and gave me a lecture, so I don't know how she is going to feel about writing that up.. What do I do if she wont right one

2. weight history I definately have 5 yrs it is just a matter of getting it from different drs... One being my OB/GYN who when I called told me that I needed to come in for a pap for them to give me that information which I felt was illegal I shouldn't have to come in for a precedure just to get my weight history...

3. weight history is there a special form the dr. has to give me? does it need a signature? or is this just a copy of their record or is it something I just right down on a piece of paper.

4. I have reciepts from Weight Watchers and South Beach Diet and reciepts from the gyms I joined but not a 6 mo medically supervised program.

5. I see a endocrinologist for my Thyroid she keeps telling me everytime I see her that I need to watch my diet because I am pre diabetic I do watch it but I still get the same test results is Pre diabetic or Hypothyroidism considered an obesity-related health problem

Thanks in advance for any responses

Hi, I know this repsonse is late, but the Pre Determination Letter can be written by your gynocologist so be nice when you go in for your pap. Good Luck!!!

1. If your doctor refuses to do the predetermination letter I would find a new doctor, you are paying them to help you so they should NOT refuse it. My doctor wasnt supportive of the surgery and didnt want me to do it but now that he sees the results he is very happy with the outcome.

2. Your OBGYN CANT refuse to give you your medical records it is illegal in the US.

3. Just a copy of your records will work

4. You have to have it medically supervised by a doctor it cant be weight watchers or south beach diet

5. Any information you have about being pre diabetic and thyroid problems will only help you in the end so provide these records to your doctor.

GOOD LUCK!

This comes pretty late in the game..hope it helps.

Your endocrinologist could write a letter of need as well. He or she probably has weight records, also. A thyroid condition would not be considered a co-morbidity, the pre-diabetes could be.

Contact the medical records department of the OB-GYN office and tell them you want copies of your records. You ARE entitled to them, but you might have to pay for the copies. If you have weight watchers records dating back that far, that should also suffice.

If you are working with the nutritionist as prescribed by your endo, that should suffice as medically supervised.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
