Hi all, wow you all are such an inspiration hearing the stories of your surgeries and thoughts. I am having surgery Nov. 15 and I'm on day 4 of only shakes total 2 weeks of shakes. I have a pre-op class today 4 hours did you all do that as well? I have never been under so I'm scared. Is the pain meds pills or something else, I didn't think we could take pills.

Congradulations to the newly banders.

Hi, all!

Just a short note from me, in the hospital, to say that all went well and I am now banded! It is great to be on the 'other side of this huge milestone.

Today I understand I will have an upper GI test and an X-Ray...and I believe that, after that, the plan is to spring me this afternoon. I've had only ice chips so far...but I can't say I'm interested in much more, either!

Best to all and gratitude for this community,

Deb WS

Deb, glad your doing well, hope you get to go home later today. I had my first week post-op visit(banded 10/27) Weight down 8lbs from pre-op, first day back at work, tired but made it. Doctor told me to increase my Protein, only been drinking 50-60gms. I thought I was doing good but he wants me to have 60-80gms. Not sure how my pouch is going to hold all this, but I will work on it. Tonight I get to eat some mushy food...Now who everythought I would get excited about trying some soft scrambled eggs or mashed potatos. Well I ate the 4ozs mashed potatos when I got home today and guess who has heart burn. I think I was too excited and ate them to fast. Tomorrow morning I will try the soft eggs and increase the Protein, tonight, I see broth in my future and Gas-X:blink: Hope all are doing well feeling good about the day overall even with the gas. :frown:

If it helps my 3rd and 4th day were the worst for gas by day 5 I was able to have liquids and tolerate. I really was not able to do the Protein until day 6 and I am still struggling with getting the amount they want me to have in 24 hours along with meals and Water. I average around 350-500 calories a day and staying pretty tired. I have also found the gas pains come back if I drink to fast. Gas-X is my new friend. Hope you feel better soon, Good luck!:frown:

This is my first post - hi everyone! I was banded on 10/27. I've had little pain, and am able to tolerate the anti-gallstone meds just fine. I'm having trouble dealing with the hunger though!! Today I ate 980 calories, and I did cheat by eating some flaked fish. Am I going to lap band purgatory for my indiscretion?? I've lost 9 lbs since my surgery.

Patty,

I hope there is not a Lap-Band purgatory but if there is I am sure we will all have plenty of company. :frown: I also had surgery on 10/27 have lost 9 lbs as well, today I had my first post op visit and my MD progressed me to soft mushy foods, like fish, potato's mashed, carrots mashed etc, i was so excited, real food. Well I at my 1/4 c mashed potato's and thought not bad and the old me just could not leave it alone and ate the other 1/4 cup 30 minutes later, well now I am paying for it with indigestion and reflux. I felt quilt for eating the second 1/4 cup of mashed potato's and seriously I have only taken in 450 calories today, so I think we will all be real comfy together here:lol:. Keep chatting I know it helps me to realize everyone is feeling the same thing. Keep up the good work and good luck.

Hey Y'all,

Hoping that everyone who has had surgery this week is doing just fine, and anyone having surgery today the best of luck. Yesterday was a no energy day for me. I didn't take my pain medication all day.... and felt miserable. Not because of the pain... just a general no energy, bloated gassy day. For the most part it was just a day of the blahs!!!!!! Transitioned to full liquids... so creamed Soups were a nice change. Would love to be able to actually chew on something though. Had one nice discovery... in the hospital I was told I had four small incisions and two larger ones.... pulled back one of the lager band-aids and it was just a small 1 cm incision. So that makes 5 small and 1 larger (which isn't that large anyways, probably about 2"). Hope everyone has a wonderful day... I plan on making today better than yesterday!!!!:frown:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
