Emptying your bowls release eeling of being stuck?

Recommended Posts

I received my second fill this past Wednesday the 27. Since then, my band has become a bit tighter. I have been drinking hot tea ever since(which in and of itself gives me the feeling of being a bit stuck for a few seconds) because I even has trouble with soupy, hot Coco Wheats.

Well, here is the question...

I had to use the bathroom tonight, and I would say I am emptied out. As I was using the BR, I heard and felt bubbles and gurgling start in my lower abdomen and go right up my tummy and tube. Now I am thinking I had so much trouble eating today is because I was full on the other end.

Has anyone else experienced this? I was told that I may have to have some testing done that includes my read and a tube, and since this operation is expensive enough and a tube is a lot to handle, I wanted to know you know.

Thanks bandsters!!

I'm not sure what you are talking about with the part of your post about testing your read and a tube. I don't get it at all.

As for the bubbles, I feel bubbles often. Sometimes it feels like bubbles going up from my lower stomach to the upper pouch. My stomach also makes strange noises. I think it's pretty normal with the band.

As for the bathroom issue, it is important that you stay regular. I eat a Fiber gummie every day to keep things moving (vitafusion brand/Target). Many other bandsters use other forms of Fiber like benefiber.

I sometimes feel that I have air trapped somewhere in the middle and it makes me feel like I ate a goat. I am bloated and uncomfortable even if I haven't eat in a while. It's as if I got in trapped when I ate and it just sat there until the food got down to it and added the pressure. It can't come up in a burp because of the food and it's blocked on the other end.

I think the unsticking sensation (the gurgling like a clogged drain had been unclogged, followed by relief) was purely coincidental to emptying your bowels.

There just isn't a physical connection between the pouch/stoma and your large intestine/rectum. They're in the same body system, but it's not like the action of having a bowel movement creates "room" for food to move from the pouch at the top of your stomach to the stomach below; feces are miles down the tract :frown:

Your colon is not a rigid tube that gets backed up closer and closer to the stomach if not emptied. It is a flexible structure, so it gets distended when stool is not evacuated. So, it gets wider and the stool doesn't back up. Except in cases of severe obstruction (which would cause pain, vomiting, and nothing coming out from below, not even gas).

So no, I'm pretty sure your bowel movement had nothing to do with getting unstuck.

I don't think they were trying to be rude, I think they were just trying to help. Why so sensitive?

I am really puzzled by your response. You got a number of helpful, non-judgmental, and informative, responses, and it seems as though you're offended by them.

Is there a reason?

Um, wow. Sorry if I offended, I was just trying to help. Just like I'd be happy if a board member educated me about, say, my car's engine, I thought that my knowledge of anatomy and physiology might help you. Guess not. Why post if you're going to take offense at replies?

And for the record, I do have the letters MD (as well as PA-C) after my name.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
