Is your port noticeable when you reach goal weight?

Recommended Posts

I just posted this in the low bmi bandsters, but I don't think many people look at the forum as often....

I just had surgery last week (Oct 14). I was a self pay because I had a low BMI (35). I know it's still early and I'm swollen, but my port is sticking out big time. I carried my weight pretty well (210 lbs), but I'm wondering if my port will stick out even more when I lose more weight. What if I get really skinny and have 6pack ABS (I know, I can dream) will the port be totally noticeable? I am really worried about this. I did a lot of research before the surgery, but I just didn't really think the port would be that noticeable. If I knew it was going to be a new addition to my belly, I would have opted for a different sugery (gastric plication).

I know, I know it is still early to freak out....but I'm just worried, because I didn't tell anyone about my surgery and it's going to be hard to hide come summer time in a bikini! (Yes, I know..i'm still dreaming).

Anybody have any input? Thanks

If it is an issue once you reach your goal weight, there is always the option to switch the port to a low profile port that will be much less noticeable.

I actually already have the low profile one, that's why I concerned with it sticking out. I couldn't imagine having a standard one!

My stomach got so swollen from surgery but after a while it toned down.

I am 12 pounds from goal and my port did stick out ( low profile) so when I had my Tummy Tuck I had my port moved under my muscles now I have no idea where it is.

Maybe that is something to consider

Yes, it can become very noticeable. Mine is pretty out there, my only real loose skin though is my upper belly, which is from pregnancy, as I was never really that fat on my stomach. I have a pretty flat stomach and an almost six pack (sigh), so my stomach has not got a lot of fat on it. The flabby upper bit actually hides the port somewhat.

I wear a bikini, I dont care. I'm 43, I dont need to the best looking woman on the beach, I'm just proud of what I've achieved and if my port showing bothers anyone, that's their problem not mine.

Very few of us end up with a perfect body out of this. At some point you have to learn to love what youv'e got and just like pregnancy leaves marks on your body, so does weight loss. You're still going to look great and most of the time we do wear clothes.

If the only thing I have to worry about is my Port showing then I think I am doing something right!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
