Today is the first day I walked on the tread mill this week.

I'm still doing 35mins, but I'm walking at a faster pace.

I start 10mins low, move up 2 speeds I do 15mins, end up back to low for 10mins.

Uggh, this week is no good for exercise, I've walked 1 mile so far- geesh, I've also gained 2 lbs- uggh.

I just don't understand, the walking is the bare minimum I feel, 7 miles a week- (or 1 mile a day) just doesn't seem that much, if I can't muster that I will never progress. So disappointing.

3 miles is 3 times better than 1

As for treadmills, you need to first decide what price range you are willing to spend and what features are important to you. You can get a pretty darn good treadmill for $1000-1200. Mine was in that price range and has a good range of speed and incline, easy to adjust while using and has a built in fan. Some now com with built in TVs/monitors. I got mine four years ago and it has many miles on it and is still working like a champ.

today I walk 40mins on the tread mill. I had a Dr. app. I was told they would like for me to to 60mins 7 day a week.

Now I'm working on 45mins on the tread mill and 15mins

on bike 6 days a week. I'm down 2.7 more lbs.

I'm still so jealous of all you guys walking away! I am still at 20 mins, and my knee bothered me all last night while trying to sleep. I am still lifting weights while on the treadmill walking, so I guess that is something. 20 mins still seems a workout to me. Will find out tomorrow if I pulled something under my port, will let ya know. I bought a treadmill that folds up from Walmart online. It is a Gold's Gym model - price was around $347. They shipped it right to the store for me. Of course I had to have someone pick it up and put it together for me, but that was no problem. I like it cause I can fold it up and it has wheels. And I can move it myself. It has built in pre select programs, but it does not have a built in heart monitor but that is ok. It came with some hand weights that fit right in a little cubby on top of it. I have it in the living room right in front of the TV. I am almost at a mile. It is still hard to get up and exercise before going to work, but getting home at midnight there is no way to ex. then. Keep inspiring me guys!!

missjoany - Good luck with your port. I wish you the best!

I'd like to suggest you not use the weights while walking on the treadmill for a couple reasons. The first is to decrease the stress on your joints, especially the knee that is bothering you. I read somewhere that the impact felt by the body for each pound on the body is multiplied by some factor (I don't remember what the factor is). The second is so you can focus on your form so you might be able to find a way to decrease the stress on your knee. Play around with speed and incline. I find that if I decrease the speed and increase the incline, I have less stress on my knees and shins. A friend of mine is more comfortable increasing speed and decreasing incline.

Another thing is to stretch when you are done with your walk. I'm bad about this one.

I am not a kinesiologist or physical therapist, so take this advice with a grain of salt. Just letting you know what I have experimented with.

You are better off getting a heart rate monitor with a chest strap than using the built in heart rate monitor. My treadmill came with a chest strap and handle sensors. It is not recommended to put your hands on the handles because you do not get as much workout. I like having my Polar HRM because I can use it for every type of exercise, not just limited to the treadmill. I know you are limited to the treadmill for now, but eventually you will be feeling stronger and fitter to do other activities.

Today I did Week 1 Day 4 of Power 90. My tummy gets in the way of completing motions and makes it hard to breathe. I'm looking forward to feeling that improve.

Thanks so much for the suggestions!! I will start them tomorrow. I do have a heart monitor, I found it this morning, I have had it for 3 years, and never used it. Will see if I can get it around me. I can empathsize with the tummy getting in the way. I have that problem as well. Also I think my breasts are getting longer. I hope I don't have to throw them over my shoulder to work out!!

missjoany - You crack me up!! You must be a fun lady to be around.

LisaA - Woohoo! You are doing great! keep up the good work.

This week Imanaged to finally exercise 6 days. I did two days of dumbbell work. Today was tough with a 2.5-hr hike with my husband. We went longer than we had planned and we are both sore. He's trying to lose weight with me. Tomorrow we are hoping to take our boat out for a relaxing sail.

Hi, All! I am new to blogging in general, so bear with me. This thread has been stimulating - mentally - now if I can get "stimulated" physically! I was banded in May, 2009, and am within 15 lbs of my goal. I know walking, gyms, etc., are the normal, effective exercises. My exercise involves working with horses. No, if you are riding a horse you are NOT just a passenger - it takes lots of muscles working independently of each other to ride - especially up hills & down arroyos! Does anyone else ride? Any opinions on "horsing around" as exercise?

BTW, I live in Simi Valley, CA, and just celebrated my 68th birthday - It's never too late!!!!!!!

Hi Gingero, I don't ride, I always felt I was too over weight for it, but I know many folks who ride, and you are right it is great exercise. welcome! awesome you are close to your goal.

Just yeaterday, my husband and i were commenting about how much work it is to ride horses as two were running past us on the trail. I was going to take riding lessons when I was five, but the instructor said I was too small. Isn't that funny?:smile2: I'm considering riding lessons as a major goal reward and a way to fulfill a childhood dream.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
