Have not tried the Optifast, sorry can't give opinion on that one. I like the Unjury strawberry mixed with vanilla yogurt and a little milk to make it liquid. Add a couple splenda packets and it's pretty good. But of course, some won't allow milk on pre op or yogurt.

Is anyone doing "my last time for this" or "my last time for that" this month? LOL

The very last weekend before I have to start full liquids, my honey is making me a roast with all the fixins.

This coming weekend I'm going to get all my boxes of clothes from the attic and start sorting them into sizes.

Lucky for me, I have a friend who lost some weight and she gave me a bunch of clothes in sizes 18 and 16. Bad thing is she has short legs, so the pants may be too short lol. I am currently in size 22. I have clothes from size 14 to size 20 in boxes, so at least I won't have to shop. Most of my weight gain has been in the last 6 years, I hpe my skin snaps back! lol

I'm worried about the skin, but in the long run, I'd rather have some loose skin and feel better physically and mentally than have tight skin and feel like crap.

Sort of yes, sort of no for me. I live alone and on a tight budget, so I hate to waste food, so I am literally eating though my pantry and not buying anything... I didn't do so well on this so I'll have some stuff I won't be able to eat up before my pre-op diet begins... I consult on 9/20 and surgery on 10/8... I'm pretty sure my doc requires 2 weeks diet, but i'm just going to round up the few extra days.... and all I have left in my kitchen now is rice, a very few canned veggies, tuna, and a little bit of bread... I also have diet-friendly foods like a whole bunch of sugar free Jello, slim fast drinks and applesauce. Should be an interesting weekend to say the least.

Wow I am so pleased to see so many people staring their journey the same time I am. I have pre op appointments this week and surgery Oct. 6. Excited and nervous, eating lots of stuff I know will be leaving my system. I could use some support, tell me suggestions to get through these next few weeks!

Hi, I have cleared all the medical exams, and have my last meeting with the nutritionist this Friday, then on Monday I have some polyps in my stomach removed with endoscopy appt..then I hope to be scheduled for October....

Keeping my fingers crossed I can get scheduled soon.

Is the preop liquid diet mandatory for everyone? I havent heard any one mention it before at my Dr's Office.

Good luck to everyone...I will post my date when I get it...

Hi everyone! I am shooting to have mine done in October. It looks good so far. I have to go next week for the dietician and pyschologist. After that all i have left to do is a follow up with the dr and wait for the insurance to give the green light. I am excited and nervous all at the same time.

Favorite Auntie....no, not every dr does the pre-op diet. I only have to do it for one week. My dr is having me do it so I lose a little fat in my liver. she explained that in order to get to the stomach, she'll have to move the liver out of the way. she said its much easier/safer to do that with a little less fatty liver. I'm so thankful I only have to do it for a week. I'll drink 3-4 shakes and one weight watchers/lean cuisine/etc meal for dinner (calories will depend on whether I have 3 or 4 shakes thru the day. Be sure and follow what your dr says....not what everyone else says. Hope this helps!

I'm going to dot shakes for 24 days so my liver dies shrink enough. Has anyone watched the op on YouTube. Very good.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
