failure...were you worried??

Recommended Posts

Good to know I'm not the only one who is worried about it. I was banded 6/14, lost 19 lbs so far. When I "dieted" w/out the band, I could drop 10 lbs a week easy, so by now I should be down much more by that rate. But. . I don't want to live my life "on a diet", so I'm trying to be patient and do the best I can but there's always that fear. Thanks for sharing you're thoughts peeps! :)

Alice, I am sorry to say this but your post reads kind of strangely. While I agree nutrition comes first, the occasional dessert or alcohol drink is not going to make ANYONE a failure. Working out a new lifestyle of balance is part of what the journey is all about.

MiMi: I agree with you I think. My thoughts in the research is that everything in moderation. However, everyone is different with what they can handle. So people can't drink beer...or soda. Some peeps can! I personally don't struggle with the sweet stuff. It is more quantity related for me. Which I think will be good for me with the band. Why is your Dr. against unfills?

Sundi: Being patient. I struggle with this myself. But I agree, I do not want to be on a "diet" for the rest of my life!

Kosy..I really like that. I think I will use it! :)

For everyone else..I am thrilled to not feel alone in this journey. I have fabulous family and friends. I have a fantastic life. But I am seriously the only over weight person in my day to day life. Therefore I do feel alone when I am talking about lapband and weight issues. It is really nice to have people make such thoughtful comments. So thanks!

I feel the same way sometimes about paying $14,000 for something that will fail and cause me to feel even worse than I did when I've failed in the past. I just tell myself that I have to keep going the way I am, continue to exercise and, if I do have a day where I'm not as successful as I would like to be, get right back to what I need to do.

It helps me too to read posts from people who have succeeded and how they have continued to do well.

The whole money thing is on my mind too! But I guess what I hope is that in the long run much less will have to be spent because I will be healthier. No one makes me feel guilty about the cost. Def. not my husband. But I make myself feel guilty. But not enough to deter from this surgery!

Ajames, my doc isn't against unfills, he just doesn't do SMALL unfills.......I don't think their syringes are marked smaller than.25cc/ml and I only want .1 or .15 taken out.

I read somewhere that you only fail when you give up.

Exactly !!!!

At the risk of sounding like a cheerleader or a marine... Failure is not an option!

I paid $18,250 for this surgery...I only earn 15K a year !! I researched for a good 13 months and if I happen to gain one week... so be it ! 'Cos in the end it will be an impressive average loss overall.

I was so gung-ho for this I even did 3 weeks pre-op diet instead of 2!!!

:(:lol::frown:

I feel the same as you most of the time! This will work! I know it..and I am human just as long as I don't go over board! Everything in moderation! :cursing: Good luck!

I'm definitely worried, but more confident and optimistic than I am worried.

Everyone and their mother knows that I had the surgery, making me even more determined not to fail.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
