So I have to ask....Anyone burping a lot after surgery

I am 2 weeks post op today and well I feel that I burp a lot more. Sorry, I know that this sounds weird, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this?

  • I've been burping a lot also. I thought I'd be burping less since I'm not drinking diet sodas anymore.

YES....and the bloating in my stomach is so bad until I can burp it up then was sweet relief!

It lessens a little as time goes but it doesn't go away. I was never a champion burper but now I can hang with the boys.

I have the problem of not being ABLE to burp. It is very painful.

Never had a problem before the band, but now, I can hang with the rest of them.

It's almost like the air in my stomach has to get out when replaced with food, so after every couple of bites I need to belch. Luckily, I can keep it under my breath when I'm out in social occasions.

Yes, I burp all the time! I never used to burp and now I could possible belch the alphabet..

Sometimes I have to get up in the middle of the night bc I can feel the air in my stomach.. never fun

DodgerFan - LOL, literally. (And I never say that.) This thread convinces me that I'm in good company -- I've been belching a ton!

I feel so much better now that I know that I am not alone!!! My poor husband just gives me this look like "So sexy" LOL! I can't help it. Sometimes it just has to come out!

I need to go enter burping contests! SERIOUSLY! I would SO win! But at least my hubby understands. The Dr said it might happened so we were prepared but its still not fun sometimes.

Since May 25th, I have not burped at all! I feel like I have to, but it just doesnt come up. But I have that other gas problem. I think I could start trumpeting songs out my butt! :( my son thinks there is low flying geese in the house! lol. I wish I could burp! It might help with the other problem

Hubby and I burp and fart in front of each other all the time so nothing that has come out post surgery has been a surprise to him. LOL!

I also burp after a every few bites or sometimes just by drinking water. I also get the hiccups when I drink water to fast. My neighbor has 2 teenage boys and now they have some serious competition. :)

I'm 3 weeks banded and yes I am burping alot! :) They are different from regular burps too. I am just saying "excuse me" alot. Hopefully it will get better as our systems get used to everything.:w00t:

I was banded on June 28, 2010 and I'm still burping but like Sweetbriar said "They are different from regular burps" mine is almost like a hiccup with a burp on the end...really weird!!! but I do it quite frequently I've just gotten used to saying excuse me a lot.

I burp all the time too! Does anyone know why some people burp so much and others can't at all? I thought my doctor told me that i would not be able to burp up after the lap band was placed, but I can and do alot!! LOL. I am 4 days post-op.
