  1. Well, after a week of having my 2nd fill, I finally called the doctor and told them that I was miserable. I was burping constantly and vomiting after every meal. I couldn't hold anything down until late at night. I would find myself not eating all day and then by 9pm starving b/c I could finally hold down food. I even gained a couple of pounds. They said I had too much of a fill and took out 0.4 cc's today. What a difference! I am on all liquids and having broth for lunch and no discomfort or burping!! I am hoping this might be my sweet spot. She had mentioned that this could be it due to the fact that I was slightly over filled this time and underfilled last time. :blushing: Anyone else had to go through this??? I am not going to get discouraged b/c of the weight gain b/c It happens. Today is a new day and going to just keep moving along!!! :w00t:
  2. Awesome Post!!! I think that we can all say that we have been there and felt the same way at some point in this journey!! I have only been banded for 3 1/2 months now and I know that my body is sometimes on a different page than my mind. Obviously my mind never received the memo that I was "done". LOL It is a learning process and I think that with time, determination, and will power it is a big success!!!

    putting my fears into words!

First off.....It is normal to be terrified and excited!!! I was the same way! :sneaky: Secondly.....you can't live your life worrying about the "what if's"...If you listen to your doctor and follow the program you should be fine, but there are some things in life that we just can't control. I was banded on July 27th of this year, so I am still pretty new and learning as I go. I was like you, healthy overrall, just overweight. I was a cash paid patient since my insurance company didn't approve me and it was the BEST decision I have made for myself. I am down 28lbs so far (I started at 200lbs) and am very happy with the results that I have had. I have had a couple of weeks were I stalled or gained but that is just part of it. This is in us for the rest of our life! Good luck to you!!! I wish you the best!

    Sleeve vs. band

I personally chose the band over the sleeve b/c of it being less invasive. Also, the band works, just at a slower pace. My doctor does the sleeve but what I have learned is that the people who lose the weight slower keep it off longer and have an easier time keeping it off. Also, it is never good for your body to lose that much weight so quickly. Most of those people have to go back and have liposuction to get rid of the sagging skin. The lapband patients rarely have to do this b/c your body is slowly getting smaller. The band isn't for everyone but I do think that you have to go with what fits your lifestyle.
  5. I am 2 weeks post op today and well I feel that I burp a lot more. Sorry, I know that this sounds weird, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this?

    Self-pay panic!!

I was self pay as well. I don't have any regrets. I am only 7 weeks post op and I am down 25lbs so far. I know that this will be a life long journey and the weight isn't going to fall off over night. I am very pleased with my decision (my bank account isn't, LOL) but I am. Good luck to you!

    Have I blown it?

First off, I am sorry to hear about your situation. I hope things start to get better for you. Secondly, I don't think that you have blown it. Everyone is different and every doctor is different. I have known people who were on solid food after 6 days. I wouldn't keep doing it but I think that if you aren't having any symptoms you should be fine. Good luck to you!

  12. I had my surgery last Tuesday (July 27th) and am on a liquid diet for two weeks and then I can start mushy foods next Tuesday. I dropped 10lbs during my pre-op diet (it was a 2 week optifast diet) and this week I have dropped 4lbs. I have about 70lbs to lose. Does this sound like enough weight to drop on your first week post-op? Total down so far is 14lbs. I am not very hungry at all and have been feeling great. I am still very sore on my left side where my port is but am hoping that will go away within the next week.
  13. My doctor told me no heavy lifting until 2-4 weeks after your surgery. I have a 3 year old little girl, too and my husband travels. My surgery is in a week. I have lots of family near by so they are all going to come and help out with her. Plus my hubby is re-arranging his work schedule so he can be home. Hope this helps! Good luck to you! After reading your post I realized that you were saying my story. I think as parents we are making the best decision by taking care of "us" first. If we don't take care of us then who will be there for our children? Again, good luck to you and I wish you the best!

    Any July Bandsters??

My surgery is scheduled on Tuesday July 27th! I just started my 2 week optifast liquid diet today and had all of my pre op done today as well. I am a cash paid patient so I didn't have to wait on insurance (my insurance company denied me for this surgery). I am very anxious/nervous/excited!! I wish the best for all of you and great success!!
