August Rush in bandland!

I hope its ok that I started this thread over on the post-op side! Just wanted to check in to see how those who have been banded are doing?

Im 5 days post op and Im HUNGRY. This all liquid business is really getting annoying. I think Im dehydrated too but Im going in to see my doctor today just to make sure everything is ok. I was feeling nauseous and still running a low grade fever. I talked with the doc last night and she said she didn't seem too worried about it but wanted me to come in today just to followup. Im going to ask her about starting some applesauce, pudding or thinned out cream of wheat. I need something more solid in my stomach.

To top everything else off- Im having female issues and bathroom issues. I started my period a week early 3 days before surgery even though Im on the pill and technically not supposed to start until this week. And I have a yeast infection from the antibiotics I got in the hospital. And then with nothing but liquids coming out I have a hemorrhoid. SHOOT ME NOW.

And the worst was last night when I was taking care of some lady business and was trying to be real gentle with my insicions so I didnt stretch too much and hurt them- well I got the MOTHER of all cramps in my lower abdomen (down below my belly button) that would not go away. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain and it hurt so bad that I really thought I was going to black out from the pain. After what seemed like 10 years (but really only 30 secs) things started getting better. But I called my husband upstairs and had him lay down iwth me just to make sure I wasnt going to pass out.

Anyways, after last night Im glad Im going in to see the doctor. I think I need to get some gatorade to drink because im probably dehydrated but just want to check with her to make sure its ok. And hopeing she will clear me to eat a little something. Im tired of feeling so weak and tired all the time.

How many of you August Rushers have had fill number three, I get mine in 11 days and can't wait. Oh yeah, how much did it help?:)

I hade my 3rd fill today, .5cc =4.5cc total. I can not tell the difference as of yet, but i will keep you posted!!!

I got my third fill on Tuesday. I'm not as restricted as I was with my first fill but I do get full on small amounts of food so I'm good with it for now.

I am still waiting on my 1st fill!!!

I had my 3rd fill 10 days ago, and I can tell a difference. I eat a smaller amount of food, and I stay full longer. He told me that I needed a fill when I went in, so he gave me 1 cc instead of the normal .5 cc.

Have not had a fill as of yet. My surgeon told me that as long as I am averaging 2-3 lbs /week we will wait until a fill is needed. However, I am taking this time to read and learn from others so that I can be as prepared as realistically possible for the "fill experience".

My first post op visit was 5 weeks post op. My weight loss was good so doc said come back in 6 weeks. I begged him to see me sooner as my weight loss had slowed right down. Saw him 2 weeks later and he tried to do a fill but my port was surrounded by fluid and he could not access it. Then i was going on holiday and now he is on holiday so in just under 2 weeks he will attempt a fill under xray. Mean time, I am hungry, hungry, hungry and struggling to maintain my weight loss.

I am still eating too fast, will anything bad happen to my band by doing this? I have never PB'd, but it only takes me 15 minutes to eat a meal. I was told that it takes 30-40 minutes to eat after the band. Am I doing this right?

I wolf mine down in about that time too, or less!

I'm so frustrated. Friday I weighed 269. Today I weigh 274. I have been sick since Friday, so I know it wasn't what I ate. Maybe it was what I didn't eat. All I had on Friday was 1/4 of a baked potato. I couldn't keep any thing in my system all weekend until last night. Then I didn't eat very much because my stomach was still crampy feeling. Any ideas on what to do?

3 Month Post Op Update:

Hello all! Things have been going great on my end. I've been working hard to learn this new lifestyle. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a bite of halloween candy or other little indulgences. The difference this time around is I don't eat the whole bag of halloween candy and i'm not having 2-3 additional servings of indulgences!

I still don't regret this decision at all! I look forward to meeting my many goals down the road. As of 11-12-2010, I am down 86 pounds, which includes my pre-op preparations. I've updated some pictures in my album, check them out!!!

I hope everyone else is doing great on their journey! Good luck, it's a long road ahead but so worth it

Wow! congrats Angela!

I've had to go back to Weight Watchers. I'm not losing and I'm fighting back and forth with the same 5 pounds:( I have very little restriction and my surgeon doesn't want to see me again for 3 MONTHS! Sometimes I wish I would have done the sleeve instead:(

Congratulations!!!

Amanda I feel the same way!! my sister-inlaw had the gastric bypass in July and she is down 75 pounds already. I am yo-yoing up and down with my weight and it is so fustrating. I have had one fill and am not due to go back to the docs until dec 22nd it was Feb, but I called and had it moved up. Dec was the earliest they would give me  the doctor likes to take fills slow he said. I have no restriction and am going crazy. I go to the gym everyday and do 45 mins of cardio and weights every other day. I really thought this weight would drop off of me...boy was I wrong...its a struggle (

Hey everyone, I'm back ...this last month and a half has been filled with distractions .

We had 2 sets of unexpected guests and 1 set that we did expect.

The last set just left on Saturday afternoon and then we had to run off to a retirement party.

I am so exhausted but happy that I can now get back on my plan and concentrate on me and working this plan. I told my hubby no more guests this Winter.

I have been way off plan because of being constantly on the go and eating out and entertaining. I have been eating stuff that's not on program but thanks to the band I can't eat much so that saves me. I have had a few cocktails too .

I bit the bullet this morning and got on the scale and was surprised to see that I have not gained a pound. I'm planning out my meals and getting back on plan 100% hoping to catch up with everyone else. You girls are rocking it and losing like crazy.

I'll make an appt for my 2nd fill tomorrow and get back to losing.

Dee
