Hi! How's everyone?!

I'm Jes, I'm 23 and from Baltimore, Maryland!! I've been married for four years this September.

My biggest fear in life was that I wouldn't be able to have children. And, a few years ago my fears were confirmed when we learned my husband would never be able to father a child due to his Cancer treatments. He's been Cancer free since October, and is over a year out from his Stem Cell transplant.

That being said we decided that when we hit five years of marriage we'd start discussing our options for babies. I know in my heart that being this heavy, and with HBP it would be mean more road blocks for us.

My mom had the surgery back in February and she is doing amazing. She's lost 35 pounds so far. I can see so many positive changes in her that I now wish the same changes in myself. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember. And, I've had high blood pressure for a few years, and currently afraid of diabetes since it runs rapid in my family.

So I decided to start looking more into lap band more for myself :tt2:

I've signed up for the orientation thing for August 5th. And, I signed up for an online one just in case I forget to ask any questions at one... I can ask at the other :)

I'm excited the more I read on this site!

Congrats Jess! I'm a little younger than you but we're both from MD, exciting. :tt2: Can I ask what surgeon you're considering working with?

Awesome job on starting your journey. It's nice to have someone else around you who can help you through it all! I can say it's definitely one of the best decisions I've made.

I looked up Dr. You. He's local to me.

I'm going on August 5th to education class thingy they offer. LOL

I met a girl who had him perform her surgery, she had the sleeve done. So, I'm trying to contact her to see how she is doing and what were her feelings on this doctor.

Wow! I wasn't sure if you had your surgery or not until I posted this! So now I'm back to edit! You're newly banded! How do you feel?

Congratulations on your progress!

I feel awesome!! 50lbs off of you really feels great, though I never imagined I'd be 50lbs lighter this quickly. It's definitely the best decision I've made yet.

I ran across Dr. You when I was looking for a local surgeon too. I went with Dr. Singh though. He's truly a blessing. Hopefully your doctor proves to be great as well :tt2:

If you have any questions/just wanna chat, feel free to message me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
