Congrats!

How much did you get and are you feeling any restriction?

I went for my 4th today and decided that I am perfect without it. Scheduled my next check up 2 months out.

I was not scared after having read all the supportive posts here. But that needle was huge and I just turned my head away. My next adjustment is next Friday with the first surgeon I worked with. My restriction from the first 6 cc has faded. I am going to ask him to start with 3 cc and see how I feel with Water. And then maybe request a little more.

I loved the feeling after the fill... and the weight dropped so quickly that first week.

I had my first fill after six weeks and don't feel any restriction--where does it go? My doctor stuck me with the needle and then had me sit up with the needle still in. I drank Water and could hardly get it down so he removed some, had me drink again and it seemed good. I had some restriction for a couple of days but now it's gone. I'm going back in a month. Is this common?

:)

I just ate a six inch veggie subway sand. and felt fine! And a bag of baked lays. I don't think I should have been able to eat that much. Not that is was "bad", no mayo on it but still I never thought I'd be able to eat the whole thing and feel fine after.

Is it better to walk out of the dr.s office feeling "alittle tight?" If you're going to lose some of it, it seems like you should over fill. I don't know, I'm new to this.

I'm with you Rocketray, I had my 1st fill 2cc 2 weeks ago, I felt restriction for approximately 3 days, now I feel nothing, the Water went down fine with me when they tested it, I'm stuck at a stand still and I go for a 2nd fill in 2 and a half weeks, boy O boy do I need it. Good Luck to everyone, I'm also wondering is this what generally happens with the 1st fill?

My band was empty when he put it in and my fill was 3 cc's.

My brother had his band done 10 months ago and has never had a fill! He's lost 60 pounds. My doctor said some people never get a fill--although that's very rare. He had a patient that lost 80 pounds without a fill. So I guess everyone is different.

I lost 95 pounds in the 5 months leading up to my surgery.

We are all different.

Hey guys! Btrieger the PA told me I have a Lap Band APS system. He put 4.8cc in it. He said something about taking 2.8cc of air out and replacing it with Saline plus 2 extra cc's? What does that mean? I'm feeling restriction which is nice. I'm not hungry all the time! The doctor told me he wanted me to stop counting calories and just eat three small meals a day...not sure if I can stop counting. I am trying to stick to three small meals a day though!

I know what you mean Jack..about losing weight quickly after the fill. I have lost 5 pounds since my fill. :cursing: I'm down 25 pounds so far.

I have heard that it takes more than one fill to feel restriction. We'll get there guys, just hang in there! :scared2:

Good luck everyone!!! :frown:

Congrats on the 25 pounds!!

I have a Lapband brand as well. They come with 3 cc of Fluid in them. Some gets spilled during installation. Mine had 2cc in it when I went for my first fill. I don't know how air got in yours.

I think your PA was telling you not to go out of your way to count calories. It never hurts to check the calorie count in something to judge how much of it you should eat.

Normal people don't go around counting every single calorie they put in their mouth and neither should we. We just have to use a little common sense in what we eat and how much.

Thanks Btrieger! You have done so well on your weight loss journey! :cursing:

Yeah..he told me to just watch the kind of food I was eating and to make good choices. I really have been trying to use common sense when choosing what I eat. It's nice that with the Lap Band it doesn't feel so much like a diet! :scared2:

I had my Nurse P tell me the same thing.. He said they took the air out and put in Saline... I don't know what that means.. but I only could get a 1 cc over the "air out" in the band... I am so discouraged by this... I feel no restriction at all...!! the drink test caused a "gurgle" so he kept taking more out... .. Ugh.... My doc. gave me a "harsh" speech about.. "getting down to business" I only lost 7 pounds since surgery 20 pounds total... feeling sad today

Aloha - I had my first fill yesterday and am waiting to find out what "restriction" I have. Wont get to have anything until tonight for dinner, 24 hours after the fill and liquids during that timeframe - any suggestions on what to eat or what not to eat? Going to go slow and chew chew chew - whatever it is! I havent had any problems at all so far....knock on simulated wood:smile:

Hang in there Nina, you'll get there!!! I haven't made the best food choices this week while being on vacation, but I definitely feel restriction since my fill! I'm ready to get back on track and make better choices. When did you get banded?

Good luck Fluffy! Hope you feel some restriction! It is nice to have some restriction because it helps manage how much you eat which is nice! I'm eating about less than half of what I used to. :)

Nina- you're not failing at all! you have lost 20 pounds!!! That is not an easy task! It will get better. I was banded May 13. I went through three weeks where I didn't lose anything. Exercise really helped get the scale moving! Hang in there, but don't feel like a failure!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
