Had my first fill today!

Recommended Posts

Hi! I had my surgery on May 13 and my first fill last wednesday (July 7). After my fill I actually felt like i had LESS restriction than before! I called my Dr's office and gave them a run down of what I ate and how I felt. They got me in today for my second fill.

Initially they said there was a little Fluid in my band from surgery, but not much. Last week they put in 3cc's. This week I'm up to 4cc's. I really hope I get some restriction from it!

I'm down about 25lbs from presurgery. My husband is down 70 (20 before surgery, 50 since) and has yet to have a fill. I think it just depends on the person.

I dont get my first fill for about another 5 weeks out... I am 16 days post op and have lost 21 lbs since surgery...

I was in the chat room the other day and someone came in and said they had just had their first fill, and that they PASSED out from it:eek:... I was freaked out about getting the first one already BUT thats made it 100 times worse for me...

I have 6 tattoos, does it hurt worse than getting a tat? LOL Im a wimp when it comes to pain... How do I prepare for getting a fill? Anything special?

I wish you all luck and good health on your journey....Thanks for the information....:)

I think I've read every post on this site and can't recall anyone saying they passed out during a fill. I think somebody may have been trying to scare you or looking for attention.

It is a huge-ass needle but if you don't look at it there is nothing to fear. Most PAs/nurses numb the area before stabbing you.

I'm not into tattoos but I am willing to bet that a fill is far less painful and certain that it takes a lot less time.

I had my first fill yesterday. Last night I ate maybe 1/4 cup of Tomato Soup. For Breakfast today I had an 8 oz Protein Drink which took me about an hour to get down. For lunch again I had a small amount of Tomato Soup and was very full. For dinner i tried potato cheese soup, but mashed the potatoes up with a fork really well. I got through less than 1/4 cup and felt like it was just sitting in my throat. I took a very small sip of Water to help get it through and ended up throwing it up.

I added a bit of water to thin the soup and tried again, but threw up again. I waited about an hour and took a sip of water and ended up having to spit the rest of the night. Is this normal right after a fill or might it be too tight?

My fill nurse told me to go to the cafe in the hospital after my fill and eat some yogurt. He said the yogurt should go down easy without feeling it come up or without a struggle. Even if you have some swelling it you should be able to get some thick liquid down.

Call your doctor.

Hey Crabby! I'm so glad you said that! The first few days after my fill I had restriction. After that, I do feel like I can eat more than before my fill. I am still losing, but I really have to watch my calories. My next fill is August 12. It's tough with my work schedule cuz my doctor's assistants are only available Thursdays and Fridays. I'm down 25 pounds since surgery too! Nice job! :)

Janica I was really scared to get my fill. Believe me when I tell you, it was nothing. I couldn't sleep the night before because I was so nervous! You'll be okay! Don't have any tattoos, but I do have my nose and tragus pierced. Those were much worse than my fills, especially my tragus!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
