Good morning all;

Tomorrow at this time I will be in the hospital awaiting the proceedure. I still feel no anxiety, nada, zilch, zero. I have found that in my life, if something makes "sense to me" then I can do anything with no emotion. A few years ago, I had my dog - Major, (beautiful German Shepard) put down. He was old, and in pain with bad hips, and bowel control issuses. It would have been selfish of me to keep him around - for me, for a bit longer. Yes I got teary, but left the vets office comforted by knowing I did the right thing.

That's the way I feel about this LAP-BAND®. I really dont want to do it, but I know I must. All else has failed.

Take care and I will see you on the other side.

Regards

Hal

Hi Hal,

I'm a newbie here. You sound just like me. I put my dog down to sleep about 1.5 years ago and it still hurts but it was the right thing to do. I don't have my surgery scheduled yet but my insurance has pre-approved me and I'll my doctor on the 15th. I try to stay cool and calm understanding that this is a major life decision.

Thank you each and every one of you.

I appreciate your kind words. I have sometimes doubted myself in terms of my ability to feel empathy. As I said, if something makes sense, then I am ok with it. That having been said, if I could give comfort to anyone following me I would be more than happy. And I do take comfort in your kindesses.

Up to now, I have only told my wife. I finally broke down and called my mom. We have a pact that we will not "Protect" each other from any bad health news we have. She is in Fla, and I am in Conn. I was feeling guilty in breaking my word to her. So I called the dear sweet woman and told her. We talked abit and I promised her a phone call on Saturday.

Well that's about it for now. Take care all

Warm Regards

Hal

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
