Why is it harder the second year post surgery???

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 1/5/09. Since then I have lost approximately 100 lbs. and almost to goal. I have about 15 more lbs to go and I just can't seem to get there. I have full restriction and I have been stuck at the same weight for about 6 months. I am 5'10 and 180 lbs. I would like to be at 165 lbs. I am very pleased with the weight loss but I would like to "finish what I have started" but my body doesn't seem to want to cooperate. I'm so frustrated by this. People tell me that it is my body telling me that I am were I should be but I don't buy it. I know I could stand to lose the extra pounds - so short of plastic surgery I don't know what to do.:tongue2:

I think the only way is to change up your exercise. But, looking at your pic, you look GREAT!

Also, keep in mind that if you are working out now and maybe you didn't in the past when you were this weight before, then it could be that you are heavier due to more muscle mass... which is a GOOD thing. So, maybe don't go so much by a number, but how you feel and look right now.

The last 15lb or so that got me to 150 took over a year to lose!

Ideally, there's still a bit of weight to be lost from my lower body, but its just never going to budge, I have stayed here for about 2 years now, even longer probably.

To lose it, I'd be looking at intense one on one personal training sessions, and a very scientific eat the right thing at the right time sort of diet. What a joyless existence! I've no wish to live like that when to be honest, just a little Lipo on the love handles would make me totally happy! And I'm not sure I care enough to actually spend that sort of money.

I wouldnt assume you wont lose anymore, if you just stick to a healthy diet and consistent regular exercise of fairly high intensity, then you might find similar to me, that every now and again you notice a few pounds gone.

Its the same with me, I have 13 to go and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I started the couch to 5K program and I am on week 4, once I get to where I can run for long distances I am going to try and run it off.

BTW, congrats on the 100!

Thanks ladies for the replies. I have been thinking about Lipo for the last 10 lbs and maybe even a boob job but I'm just not sure yet if I want to do that. I would like to get everything I can as tight as I can without the need for more surgery

Best of luck to all of you in your journey. This has been such a blessing to me as I hope it has for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
