Hey guys I was band Aug 17,2009. I would love to join the jorney with you guys. I did not have a high BMI my was 36.5. I had other health problems that helped me make this choice. I have a thyiord problem which causes your metablizime to be veryyyyyyyyyyyyy slowwwwwwwwwwww. I lost 33 pounds and only 27 more to go. So if you need mentoring I am all ears.

I have a somewhat low BMI too - I am about 38. I am really excited but keep having moments where I am like, am I really going to undergo surgery by choice? My beloved boyfriend is supportive of me but is understandably wary of the entire process. My family is not necessarily supportive and I haven't really told that many other people. I wouldn't say I am having doubts, I am sure I want to go through with it because I realize there is no other way it will come off, I am just uneasy or wary. I am trying to think of the right way to express it. Sort of like, in reality, I know this is the right thing to do, but then there is this side of me that is like, really? You have to have a surgery to help you be not fat? I would love to know your thoughts, if you ever felt this way and how you feel now, looking back on your decision to get the band. Thanks!

Hi

Im in the London and have just booked to be banded in Manchester on the 19th June. I have a relatively low BMI but with quite resistant PCOS.

So so excited!! Any banding buddies on the same day??

I will be banded on June 9th and would love to be a buddy to you. I am on the pre-op shakes currently. I needed to lose 8 lbs prior to surgery and I was done 17.5 on my pre-op visit today.

Hey guys..... don,t worry I was just like you worried to death. That is natural to be that way. I started out at 195lbs. and I have lost 33lbs so far still slow to loss but I am doing it. My doc also did not require me to go on the pre op diet. I ate right up to 12 the night before surgery. Any questions anyone.

ewoodle~ Were you very hungry in the beginning? I know it's mostky head huger I am going thru and the withdrawl of carbs/sugars/etc....but today I was hungry all day I am only 4 days post-op (banded june 9th)and am scared i am going to feel like this everyday. Today I had 4oz of a protein shake, 4oz SF jello, 1 cup very thin cream of ckn soup (thinned out with ckn broth) and some cottage cheese and I am still hungry. what is wrong with me????:(

Hi Samantha,

Sounds likeyour not eatting enough. 1st week postop I was told to eat/drink something every hour.ex Protein shake, sugarfree pudding, juice, soup, etc.. it was like 1 item every hour.

Anne

Did you gain weight in your first week? I am keeping hydrated and eating the things I am suooised to but have slightly gained this week. I am not sure if it is from all the excess gass or just more calories now that I was getting prior.:(

Hi-

I am 10 days post op and yes i am still hungry sometimes. This is a learning process, I am still not sure how many calories I should be taking in or how much I should be eating at each meal.

I meet with the nutritionist on Tues 6/15 so hopefully she will shed some light on the situation. I have lost 8 lbs in the 10 days so I am happy about that. Who knows maybe I should have lost more but I haven't and I am not going to beat myself up because of it.

The post op diet for me is actually harder than the 10 day liquid pre op diet I have no idea why.:( I am staying upbeat and focused.

Just remember that everyone is different, and you will lose at a different rate from someone else. Drink plenty of Water because when you start to get hungry that definitely helps !

Good luck to you !
