  1. I'm looking for support groups either in Northern NJ or NYC I need all the support I can get and I would really like to meet some bandsters going thru what I am going thru and those that are in in in the long haul. Thanks in advance!!!!
  2. I go for my first fill on July 13th and and freaking out it's gonna hurt like you know what. I can not feel my port under my skin even though I have a pretty tight abdomen(SP?) How does it feel to get your fills do you cringe thinking about it or is it now routine that nothing bothers you. I'm a baby when it comes to needles and have extreme anxiety what should I expect???
  3. My papers for post-op say Stage 2 Regular Texture Calorie controlled diet Week 4 and Onward....I have another week and a 1/2.... July 9th here I come (hehehe)
  4. I'm so sorry you were in the ER last night where were you having pain? Did they give you anything for the reflux? Did they say why you were in so much pain etc? I hope you get better fast...it sucks to bein pain ((HUGS))
  5. I was banded on June 9th. It was really bad the 1st week and a 1/2 now I feel great. I agree He is very strict with our diets. I'm almost 3 weeks and I'm dying over here it seems we even skip the mushy stage and go right into regular foods. So I have a week and a half and I can eat again. I have NO restriction at all and when I saw him I asked him what size band he put in me and he put in the 14cc large band. Do you know what size band you have? I get my first fill July 13th and I see Susanna on the 19th. So happy to have met you!!!
  6. Yup we had the ame Dr!!!!! When were you banded? How are you doing so far? :scared2:
  7. Do you know what date the July meeting is?
  8. I live in the Paramus area too. Can you give me dates and times for Englewood and Hackensack support groups. I would love to go and meet people in the same boat as me. My nutristionist does the one out of Chilton Hospital but it's at 5:30pm I may see if I can work it out and go to the July meeting. But I think the more meetings I go to the better off i will be. Thanks for all your replys maybe we can all meet one day and have a bandster meet and greet!!!!

    Anyone located in NYC area?

Hi I'm Samantha located in northern NJ about 20 min from the city. Would love to meet other's close to me that have had the surgery. Maybe over the summer we can all get together and swap stories!!
  12. I'm getting very discouraged so far with my lapband. yesterday I went to see my Dr post -op (banded 6/9) he told me he put in a 14CC band around my stomach (I'm 4'11 weighed 199 at time of surgery). He said there was fatty tissue around around my stomach and thats why he went for the larger band. I was also very very sore at the port site and in terrible pain until I woke up this morning and now I feel so much better- not sure why but I do.... I can breathe, walk lay down all easier. My Dr wanted me to get a cat scan to make sure there was no swelling around the port site, so I called them them this morning and told them how much better I am feeling and am waitig for them to call me back. This morning i was able to drink a whole protein shake 11oz (with a straw) with no problem (pretty fast too) unlike yesterday where I could barely get anything down and felt like throwing up all day. What's wrong with me? One day I can't eat anything the next I'm drinking a whole shake like there is no tomorrow...could it be because the port pain feels so much better therefore I feel better? Anyone that can help I need it any encouragaing words send them my way...I'm having a hard time with all of these ups and downs it's really affecting my moods. TIA
  13. Thanks for your replies... I guess i just expected a magic bullet. And I of all people seem to be doubting myself. I know I can do it....I can do it.... I will do it.... I must do it. I guess because I am reading so many different posts I am getting discouraged that this will not work for me some people lose alot others lose basically nothing and that scares the hell out of me after what I put my body thru. I guess I just got scared because I drank a whole protein shake whereas I could only drink 2-4oz at a time the pass week...that scared me. Me being hungry scares me. having NO restriction scares me.... I'm scared i'm going to fail even with a tool to help me. I'll try to be more positive and happy, but thanks for taking thetime out to reply.
  14. I;m also thinking it's the port site. Mine still hurts and I'm 8 days out when I breathe too hard, adjust myself wrong it all hurts. I'm still on pain meds so it helps alot. I does get better. Just hang in there!!!!
  15. I finally feel better today:tt1: for the 1st time in a week. But I have NO restriction at all and feel as if i could eat anything I want at this point. My Dr gave me a 14cc band for some strange reason (i'm 4'11" and was 199lbs at surgery) (he said i had fatty tissue surronding my stomach) I think it's going to take me that much longer to lose this weight with such a big band in my stomach. Does anyone else have a 14CC lap band?
  16. BUMP Is it normal to have such a large band around my stomach? From what i see in oher posts most people get the 10CC band why did my dr picksuch a large band for me....
  17. I went to my Dr today for my first post-op visit. (surgery 6/9) I asked him what size band he used and he told me the largest a 14. Now me thinking I am tiny 4'11" (197lbs) I was like wow thats a huge band, its just gonna take me longer and longer to reach restricton. What size band do you all have and at what point did you feel restriction? I feel absolutely NO restriction now and can drink fast and alot without it bothering me...hope it all cahnges once i start with my fills.

    Migraines?

My nutrionist says having skim/soy milk if you get a migraine or headache should help. I'm a bad migraine sufferer but so far so good. Hope that helps!!!

    Banded June 7th

I was banded on the 9th and am feeling your pain. I am not hungry at all and am making myself sip sip and sip. When I do try to have my protein shake I feel like i'm going to throw up so today I am taking it slow again. I feel like that I made a mistake and I am in so much pain at my port site and have have only 3 more pain tabs left till I see my Dr tomorrow for my 1st post-op. I am hoping I can get through this day. Hang in there!!! Samantha

    Newbie here

How long do you have to be on the protein shakes? I was banded on the 9th and feel the same way but am on an all-liquid diet for 3 weeks. I am trying to get in as much of the shakes and broth as I can but I feel so sick at this point I don't even want to eat. keep in touch
  21. ewoodle~ Were you very hungry in the beginning? I know it's mostky head huger I am going thru and the withdrawl of carbs/sugars/etc....but today I was hungry all day I am only 4 days post-op (banded june 9th)and am scared i am going to feel like this everyday. Today I had 4oz of a protein shake, 4oz SF jello, 1 cup very thin cream of ckn soup (thinned out with ckn broth) and some cottage cheese and I am still hungry. what is wrong with me????
  22. Would Love to be a buddy too!!! I am from northern NJ. Got banded on June 9th and am very sore at the port site inciscion. Today I felt hungry all day....which really sucks since I'm not even a week out.

    So glad I'm here!!

I only told a few people- mostly family because I knew If I told anyone else they probably will not understand. At first I wasn't going to tell anyone because I didn't want to be judged but then I figured much of my family life revolves around food and eating and If I'm not eating they will know something is "up". So far the people I have told have been supportive but it's only been a few days...... I got banded June 9th and am having very differerent emotions all during the day. Today I have been very hungry and very alone. I am still very sore in my port site so I've been off my feet all day long and taking my pain meds. Glad I came across your post lets keep each other updated!!! Hugs, Samantha

    Any June Bandsters???

Had my surgery done yesterday morning :laugh:and am feeling much better tonight. The surgery went nice and smooth woke up from the surgery and was so thirsty then became so hungry, when I told my nurse she looked at me like I was crazy and said "I never hear of hunger after just having the lap-band surgery" But I was head hungry and pretty loopy from all the medication they gave me. Today I had a realaxing day not much pain but am on pain meds so It's making things easier. Today all I had to eat was one protein shake (yummy atkins advantage chocolate) 2 cups of ckn broth, 1 SF fudgescicle, 1 SF ice pop, then I had some SF jello must of ate it way to fast because I got that stuck feeling for almost 2 hours- the pain was pretty intense....now I know to eat (even if it's jello) slow.... slow and slower. So so far so good. I just wish that every other commercial on TV wasn't a food commercial since food is my drug of choice.... and I have to get over that I may never be able to eat that stuff again. This was the best decision I've ever made...start of a new adventure...and a new life...good luck all you upcoming June bandsters!!!! Hugs, Samantha
