  1. Dr. gave me a no go on sit ups. It's because your band actually can flip inside out. Saw some pictures. Crunches are fine but no full coming all the way up sit ups. I'm 5 weeks post op and enjoying every minute at the gym!! It's such a release....and I listen to motivational podcasts while i'm there. It's a double hitter!
  2. Llyra, I completely agree!!! I would prefer someone to mess up pre-op then someone messing up after post-op.

  8. I am about to post this but DO NOT BE RUDE! My BMI was 39 at my initial consultation. Because I did not have anything but reflux, my insurance assistant said that she didn't think the insurance would approve me. SHE suggested to wear LEG WEIGHTS!!! That cracked me up. I decided to just eat my life away since I wouldn't be doing that after surgery. I am a dance teacher and have a ton of leg weights so I brought on with me. I sat in the car for almost 20 mins deciding if i should do it. I had to gain 5 pounds to get to 40 BMI. So i went ahead and put on the leg weights! I walked in to take my weight......I gained the amount I needed to without the weights. Didn't need the help!
  9. Yes salt was something the nasty chicken and Chicken broth mush needed. Yuck.... I thought that it would give me some Protein but it just gave me a sick feeling in the stomach! :-)
  10. I thought we needed a thread dedicated to BABY FOOD! My doctor recommended baby food for your mushy stage. I'm 5 days out of surgery and ready for some mushies so I went to get some baby food. I stood in front of pureed green Beans, sweet potatoes, apples, turkey, mangos, etc and looked like a lost puppy! Seeing that I am 25 and never had children... I have NO idea what baby food actually tastes good  or which tastes like cat throw up :frown:. What baby food product would you suggest to eat? (BTW, the chicken and Chicken broth baby food looked like slobber and tasted horrible!)
  11. I've started getting some headaches my self. I had a protein shake two days after surgery and it went down great. Totally liquified but it helped with the hunger. Honestly, I haven't been hungry at all. I've been sipping on water and other clear liquids all the time and that helped with me needing to eat. If it wasn't for this damn hiatal hernia, I would be in no pain. The gas irritates it light crazy. Can't wait till that heals along with everything else.
  12. I'm three days out of surgery and my gas pains are really getting better. I got icey hot patches and cut them in strips. I placed them right under my boobs and that helped weirdly! I don't know if it is gas or the hernia but it has relieved the sharp pains. Also, as someone said above, raise your arms above your head and take big breaths. The first few sucks but then it feels so much better.
  13. Tomorrow morning is the day!!! So excited but nervous.....LOW PAIN TOLERANCE!
  14. I am on the two week diet before surgery and have lost 14 pounds on ProtiDiet. IT IS THE BEST PROTEIN DRINKS/SOUPS OUT THERE!!!
  15. BTRIEGER, You could be a bit nicer. Many people screw up but they learn. You have been here and done this....don't be so freakin judgmental. This is a very hard process and it's all about learning from your mistakes. You don't have to offend everyone else because they make a mistake. It's rude and immature. From your other posts, I thought you were more supportive than that.
  16. As you read above, I only cheated once. Well one cheat went into another! Ug. Went to the movies yesterday and had nachos and popcorn. TALK ABOUT A HUGE MISTAKE! My stomach has been hurting and have been running to the bathroom every 10 mins. Even in my 5th day preop, my stomach has changed. DON'T CHEAT GUYS! Or if you cheat....cheat right....not stupidly like i did!
  17. First....let me apologize.... Did any one have problems with the bubble guts? My stomach has been bubbling like crazy! I can tell it isn't hunger bubbles. I have been burping and (well sorry to say) tooting like crazy! It is a bit painful at times. Is this normal??? Gas-X has been my best friend for the past week. Any other home remedies or suggestions??:smile2:
  18. Good Luck Lori!!! Mine is one week from tomorrow!!! At least you have only one week pre-op! Keep strong and know that you will get through it!!! Let's be band buddies!!!
  19. I see! So none the day before or at all?? Any answers about the beef broth?
  20. I've heard that you cannot have red jello or beef broth before surgery from reading these forums.....why no red jello??? Does it dye your insides or something?? :-) I've also seen a few posts about beef broth....that's not good either? I'm on my two week pre-op diet and don't want to screw up anything!
  21. On day 4 of my 13 day pre-op diet. 5 protein shakes a day and any zero cal jello, crystal light and noncarbinated drinks. TALK ABOUT HARD. I cheated to day with a Chicken and Green Chili Soup from Chilis. Just checked out the nutrition label online and could not believe the sodium content! This soup was nothing.....clear broth, some green chili's, very few pieces of chicken and tomatoes....that equaled to 190 Calories, 5 grams of fat, 16 protein and 1060mg of sodium! Too much salt! Now I feel bad...... I have been looking at almost every one of the posts in this forum and feel like I should be fine with a little creamy soups here and there. 3 days before surgery I will make sure to do only clear liquids though.
