Any July Bandsters??

I got my surgery date booked for July 2nd and so far everything looks good (crossing fingers...). What about you guys, anybody else getting banded this coming July?

Right now I'm busy soaking up information and I came across some great blogs of people I could relate to. Thanks to them and to the nice people on this forum, while I'm still a little apprehensive I now have a much better understanding of the journey that awaits me. Not to mention some great tricks and recipes! I have some unused vacation time that I'll be taking after the surgery, it should make for an interesting summer!

Keep in touch!

Peace : )

Hi Everyone,

Just got approved today and my surgery date is July 14th. I'm excited and nervous. i had to go through an appeal process with my insurance and it paid off. I GOT APPROVED!!!

Go luck everyone...

Mine should be mid july... My insurance approved the procedure. So now I have to go through Nutrition Education and get some tests done. Nurse said if I do everything like I am suppose to do, then my surgery will be mid july. I start college full time at the end of August so they want to get it done with time for me to adjust before school starts. Seems to me after all the blogs Ive read and YouTube Ive watched. The ones who have problems are the people who cheat and do not follow the Dr. instructions or go in for their fills.

Has anyone started to reduce there caloric intake prior to the preop diet.

I've been trying some of the Protein shakes, found some chewable caclium tablets, chewable Vitamins and statred to use them.

Just trying to get ready.

Anybody else?

My sister told me that I shouldn't lose to much weight prior to surgery BMI 40.1 b/c they may thing I can do it on my own.

What do you think? My Doc has not required me to lose weight preop.

I am scheduled for July 27th. A little far out because I had to do it a week that my son would be going to his fathers. Good Luck to all of you during your weight loss journey.

Hi,

I'm Monica and I was just told I am approved, my surgery is scheduled for July 20th with Dr. Kelly Francis of Dr. Leport's office in Fountain Valley, Ca.

I will meet with my surgeon on June 16th.

I am very excited and look forward to a new, healthier life. Good luck to all of you who are going through this as well.

I am getting towards the end of my 6 month waiting period required by my insurance. I have had my initial consultation with the surgeon (1/21), my psych eval (5/5) and nutritionist consult (5/28).. so now one more follow-up visit with my pcp - and then everything will then be up to the insurance... if everything goes without a hitch - I should get a July date. :wink2: I am very excited for each of you that have been given a date and look forward to sharing our successes, and struggles with each other!

I'm getting banded July 1st. Just joined the forum.

Hi everyone!

Hi, Veleda! Congratulations! How very exciting for you! I cant wait to get my date set. You and I are the same age - we should switch off and share stories.

im in the beginning stage still. i had my first consultation appointment. im sopposed to be hearing from the doc office today to see what my insurance says. when i talked to them though they said as long as my bmi is over 40, mine is 53 so im prayin. just so nervouse that i might get denied. is anyone else from uhc? how long did it take u to get approved and banded up? good luck everyone

I am scheduled to be banded July 30th!! I am very excited but nervous and a little scared..but glad to know Im going through this with other people and in the same time period. Would like to keep in touch. On another note I am having a hard time getting my WL ticket on my signature..it wont take the url link, any ideas??:Dancing_biggrin:

Hi, my name is Anja and I will have my surgery on July 1. It would be nice to hear from you, to see how your doing. My weight is 298 an Iam 5.8 tall, and I am trying to loose a little before surgery. It is not required by my surgeon, but I decided to do this on my own. I go for my nutritional appointment on June 21 and find out then how long I have to be on liquids before surgery. I really love this website, it helped me along the way not to be so scared of the surgery.Hope to talk to you later.

Good Morning everyone:

I am hoping for a 7/1 date. I have had my psych & nutrition eval and all went fine. I missed the May group meeting with the Doc cus I was out of town visiting my mom for mothers day. Anyway I am scheduled 6/9 for the DR visit. I thought it was a group meeting with a one on one afterward. Nope, it is one on one right away, and then schedule the proceedure.

I am hoping that I can get 7/1 as date. I am very very secretive about this and only my wife knows. So if I have it on the 1st, I will have the 1st through the 5th to do some recovery, and back to the office on the 6th. I'll just say that we took a long weekend for the holiday. If I am walking slow or showing some discomfort, I will just say I pulled my back out.

To be perfectly honest about this whole thing, I really wish I did not have to resort to this operation. But I must. I have various comorbidities and more coming. My PCP says the weight loss will reverse all of them. I have already started walking on the treadmill as preperation for my new exercise requirement. I have a bowflex for the strenght training so I should be ok. The only problem I see on the horizon is my drinking habit. I love vodka in the evening. But that Has to go too.

Maybe all this should be in a blog, but I have covered several issues which I think are common to most people here, so I put them out for comment if any.

Warm regards to all, & stay strong

Hal

Pretty sure I will be having it July 1! Very excited. I am going to mexico and just have to make sure I have no issues with getting my passport and then I will buy plane tickets and be ready to go! Right now Im just nervous about everything coming together in time:willy_nilly:but I think once I have a passport and plane tickets, Ill start being more nervous about the actual surgery
