PETRIFIED
I would take it easy on ab work so soon after surgery. My port flipped right after surgery and I was not doing anything to strenuous other than hiking. Take care and take it slow.

Skechers Vs Reebok
I prefer the Ryka brand toning shoes. They are super comfortable and often go on sale at lady foot locker for around $50.00. My legs are really toned but I do use them all day, not just for walking.

Anyone have a flipped or twisted Realize band port?
Hi, Yes mine flipped as well. The docs tried to get the fill needle in several times and kept hearing metal and clicking sounds. I just had port revision surgery last week to fix it, he said he hadn't seen a case as bad as mine ever. Hope all works out with yours.

Hypo-Thyroid Bandsters
Hi, I am also on Armour Thyroid and it works for me. You mentioned the manufacture doesn't make it anymore, but I get my prescriptions for it filled at my local costco pharmacy without any problems. You may want to check in your area if there is a costco nearby that carries it. Take Care.

- Anyone not losing weight?
Hi, Just a thought, have you had your thyroid levels checked? I worked out everyday for months sometimes twice a day at the gym without any weight loss then at a visit to my doctor she decided to check my thyroid levels and found that my TSH was so high I had zero metabolism and it was contributing to my lack of weight loss. Good luck with everything.- Anyone not losing weight?
- Needle wouldn't penetrate port for a fill
Thanks for your feedback. I would love to change Dr.'s at this time, but I'm HMO patient and I'm worried that the process will be a long one to get all new approvals and pre op work with the new Dr's office.- Needle wouldn't penetrate port for a fill
Hello Everyone, I was banded on July 20th of this year, I have not been able to have one fill yet. The first attempt was 8 weeks out of surgery, doc just heard clicking sounds when attempting to access port, withdrew about 15cc of red brownish fluid from a hematoma/seroma that had developed near the port. She suspected a flipped port which was ruled out with xrays. Fast forward to October, tried a fill under flouroscopy, needle was in correct position but could not penetrate port membrane. The PA said he had never seen anything like it. I am having port replacement this Wednesday. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this before. I have a realize band 11cc by the way.- Banded and feeling sad?
Hi, I was banded on July 20th, just about a month ago. About a week out I was sad also, I almost felt like I had lost a friend. I then realized how much of an emotional eater I was and began to really feel the emotions and had to work through them without reaching for the fridge. I can compare it to a child losing their favorite comfort or security blanket in my case anyway. The feeling lasted about two weeks, and now I really couldn't be happier. I'm seeing the health changes and slight physical changes, it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. No regrets.- Pre-Op And Diabetic
Hi, I'm a type 2 diabetic and had the same concerns. You'll do fine, just take in some light apple juice along with your other liquids and you should have no issues. Good luck.- Stitches, Staples or Glue?
Hi, I'm 13 days post op and I have glue on my incisions.- What are your post op lifting restrictions?
Hi, My instructions were to not lift anything over 15lbs for six weeks. Take care.- Greetings from Long Beach California
Hi, I was just banded by Dr.Kelly Francis out of Dr.Leport's office. The process from beginning to end was fairly quick, from date of verification to surgery was about 2-3 months. I just had surgery on July 20th of this year. Feel free to contact me with any questions.- In need of a lap band buddy!
Hey everyone, my name is Monica and I would love to be buddy's with all of you. To Dawn, I still have not had my post op, I'm scheduled for Aug.5, and I was told I'd have my first fill in 6 weeks from my surgery date. I too was very hungry until today, when I was able to add eggs and cottage cheese to my diet. I made a hardboiled egg "mash", it was so delicious and satisfying. I just boiled a couple of eggs, once cooked put them in the blender with some light mayo and honey mustard, a little dash of Water and blended them to the consistency of deviled eggs. It was sooo good. Finally some real food.:scared2:- Banded yesterday! Yay!
Congratulations on getting your band!- Surgery Tomorrow 7/28/2
Everything will be just fine. I also felt like second guessing my decision but I am a week out of surgery today and I'm feeling so much better health wise already. I have lost a few pounds and I'm already feeling more alive and energized and not so controlled by food. It's a wonderful feeling, you won't regret it. :scared2:- In need of a lap band buddy!
Hello, I also had my surgery on July 20th and would be happy to be your buddy. I have been looking for one myself. How has your first week gone?- Sweating/shakiness from lack of calories?
Hi, I just had surgery a week ago and I too will get shakey if I don't have anything to eat. The only way to prevent this for me has been to eat on a consistent schedule, every 2 hours while I'm on the liquid diet, which I'm still on. This morning I over slept and woke up very weak and a bit shakey, so I just had to sip small drinks of apple juice until I felt better but I'm setting an alarm for the morning, I don't want to feel like I did today.- What do I need to take along to the hospital?
Congratulations on your surgery! Like everyone recommended, just some light sweats and slippers, pillow, and gas x. If you have Asthma, take your inhaler, I forgot mine and needed a couple of breathing treatments after the anesthesia.- Hello..another newbie..but a long time lurker!
Hi Amanda, and welcome! I wish you much success on your journey, and please feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. ~Monica- Banded July 20th
I was also banded on the 20th, and according to my doc's instructions I can have scrambled eggs and cottage cheese on week 2, and I can progress to light tuna and 2oz of very tender chicken on week 3, I can't wait, I'm getting tired of "watery" food.- Getting banded in 7 hours!!
Thanks for the encourgement!:tt2: On my way to the hospital.- I couldn't believe what someone said to me
