  1. Read your blog posting on your new scale giving you weird readings. I'm not surprised as I had similar problems with a digital scale I bought at Costco a while back. Funniest thing is that it would give me different readings if I tried 2 minutes later. Very frustrating.

I finally got fed up and bought an expensive ($90 CAN) Taylor model that had good review from consumer magazines.

Now my only issue is that it's so accurate that not only will it give me the same exact weight 3 times in a row the same morning but it has also given me the same exact weight 8 days in a row, down to the same decimal as I fight off this plateau... : (

  2. I got my surgery date booked for July 2nd and so far everything looks good (crossing fingers...). What about you guys, anybody else getting banded this coming July? Right now I'm busy soaking up information and I came across some great blogs of people I could relate to. Thanks to them and to the nice people on this forum, while I'm still a little apprehensive I now have a much better understanding of the journey that awaits me. Not to mention some great tricks and recipes! I have some unused vacation time that I'll be taking after the surgery, it should make for an interesting summer! Keep in touch! Peace : )

    Any July Bandsters??

After the 3rd day, all is going to get better real fast. After a week, I was at 95% of feeling normal. Get walking as soon as you can, it really helps. Best of luck!
  7. Actually, it's 3 weeks of liquid diet followed by... 3 weeks of mushies. I still have a week and a half to go on the liquid phase and although I love soups and I'm used to protein shakes, I'll be happy to move on to a greater variety when this part of the process is done with.

Wow, 5 days till you get re-banded, I really hope this go great for you this time. I remember waking up after surgery 10 days ago and I'm not sure I'd want to go through that too often! It took a good 5 days before the sore throat finally went away. And yes, thank you for asking, I have lost quite a bit since the beginning of the liquid phase and thankfully this will continue into the coming weeks.

  8. Going through the forums, I landed on one of you posts which led me to your blog. I haven't read the whole thing yet but I find your story telling to be quite compelling! ;-)

I just got banded on June 25th and I'm midway through a 3 week liquid only diet. Can't wait to start the mushie phase!

Anyways, thanks for the very interesting read and I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming surgery!

    Cheers!

    One week post

Congrats! It's been almost a week for me too, I was banded last Friday. As for the shakes, I know what you mean, it does get a little boring after a while, especially since they don't all taste all that great. Plus it's not always super obvious to cram in all the required daily Proteins with those. I heard and read good things about unjury but I haven't tried it yet. I ordered the chocolate and vanilla, I'll let you know how it turns out when I get them. Cheers!
  11. Thanks guys! : )

  12. Wow, can't believe it's finally time for my surgery! Tomorrow Friday is the big day for me, wish me luck! : )

    Any July Bandsters??

Sorry, mine is covered by my provincial health care plan. My wait was a little longer than yours, about 8 months, but still acceptable. I'm also quite happy with my surgeon. Good luck!
  15. I've been called many things in my life, some of the them not very flattering but I'm pretty sure this is the first time my size is referred to as "fluffy". :smile2: Cheers!
  16. I know that feeling, I did the same a few years ago. The main difference this time is that I can make it permanent... and that's still a concept that's hard to grasp! I can't imagine what it will be like not to have to ask for a seat belt extender, not to be sweaty whenever I have to walk outside on a warm day, not to think twice about it if someone wants me in a picture, not to have to plan a special (dreaded) trip to the big & tall store. Hard to believe I have the chance to make all of this happen and so much more... permanently! :tongue2: Best of luck to you all!
  17. Arrrgh! Forgot about the bloody belt extenders... and I have to take 3 plane trips prior to my July operation. Those I certainly won't miss! : )
  18. Hi, I'm new to this site and so far this seems to be one of my best finds for band-related information on my Quest for knowledge. Getting my band in July. Any other fellow July 2010 bandsters around? Best of luck to you all and looking forward to reading you! Cheers!
