I am being banded July 16th :) I am on Day 8 of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet and all is going swell, I have lost 22 lbs far! Is it just me or is that not crazy??? I even went and bought a new scale because I just couldn't believe it. I am just shocked after reading some of these post about the struggles with insurance approval. I was required to do 6 months of follow up dr visits and a psych evaluation to get the approval, the only issued I incurred was I couldn't have the surgery at my local hospital since it wasn't "a center of excellence" but it all worked out, my Surgeon uses another hospital, it's just 80 miles from me

I had my pre-op today. :) Just a few more days. I start this liquid only diet tomorrow. I've had such a hard time sticking to a low fat diet, I decided I should start a liquid only a few days before the surgery.

I'm also weening off of diet coke, since no carbonation after Monday. I've found other sources of caffine, I've just got to kicked the coke.

I'm getting nervous, but so excited!

I stocked up today, too! Protein drinks/mixes, yogurt, fruit sauces. I forgot the popsicles and Jello, though. Oh well, I'm sure I'll end up at the store before my day anyway. I also filled my prescriptions. Now I'm doing laundry and making sure the house is spotless and easy for hubby to take care of while I recuperate. Many, many preparations!

Hi, Expresso88,

I hope your surgery went well, and that things are now going great for you.

I am a newbie to this board, and my surgery date is this week, July 15th. I too am both very nervous and excited as well.

It is so great to read the responses and questions from others...to know I am not alone...Thanks to everyone!

First time posting but am so glad to see how many of you share tomorrow as surgery day. I'm glad to see my stocking up on liquids and cleaning the house isn't all that strange. I am also a little worried and anxious but feel like the program I went through prepared me for what's coming. Hoping for all of us to have a quick and easy surgery that we sail through and meet on the other side later in the week.

Good luck to all of you tomorrow...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
