It all depends on your doctor's diet plan. Some folks are eating mushies within a few weeks of surgery. Others like myself have to wait at least six weeks post-op to have any non-liquids. I would give them a call. The bariatric coordinator at my surgeon's office provided a booklet that answered most of my questions about diet as well as other issues. Good luck.

It depends on your surgeon. It amazes me that your surgery is so close and you have no idea what and when your allowed to eat what.

My doctor allows me mushies the 2nd and 3rd week post op and then on to real food the 4th.

I would call them up and find out.

It's just me being impatient:rolleyes2: - I see my nutritionist tomorrow along with Pre Op and my surgeon, which I believe we will go over - but I was just wondering - what the heck am I going to eat at our party! I was just hoping that some one on her would say yeah I eat a little something on day 10......thanks

I was only on liquids for 3 days - puree for a week and then soft for a week. So, there's definitely hope!

6 weeks post-op on liquids only? I think I would go crazy!!! My doc says the progression is usually liquids for the first week, mushies in week 2, soft foods in week 3 and hopefully normal food by week 4. Of course that's all dependent on how you're handling the food. If it makes you sick then you're not ready for the next stage. You can also call and ask them post-op, my co-worker was miserable after 5 days of liquid and said she was so irritable she might have to kill her husband (jokingly of course) and the doctor's office said it was fine to move on. And yes, you should find all this out at your pre-op or nutritionist consult.

Yep, five days post-op Clear Liquids + 6 weeks post-op full liquids. I then get my first fill and have two more days clear liquids for a consecutive 49 days of liquids only. Not quite sure how I'm managing to stay sane at this point with 17 days left. I just got back from Whole Foods and they had a bunch of food samples out like cubed cheeses, chips, salsa and guacamole. It looked so inviting and made me kind of crazy, but I managed to not partake.

My surgeon is convinced this is the way to ensure both complete healing and also to jump start weight loss prior to getting the first fill. I've learned that he's actually had bad experiences with mushy stages in the past. He had a patient who was quite proud of having created a mushy out of chicken McNuggets and Ranch dressing so no mushies for me and a very long wait for solid food.< /p>

Port placement? I was under the belief that the port would be lower and more to the side. Mine is like a hand lower than my breast and towards the middle.of my chest. Is this unusual.

10 days is cutting it short, the aim is to really only be introducing normal foods at a month post op, 'cause it takes a while to let everything heal before stressing it again. But listen to your specialist!

As much as I can't wait to eat something solid again....I am scared to try something solid. I will get to start puree next week. That will be nice. But what the heck should I eat? I am dying for an egg! Is it possible to puree an egg?

Like everyone else said, it's up to your doctor and what he/she allows.

My post-op instructions are as follows:

2 days Clear liquids

1 week full liquids

1 week pureed

1 week soft

Then on to regular

I did the liquids after surgery for around a week. Then started on soft food, not mush! Within like 5 days I was eating anything I wanted except red meat and bread. I am not into sweets/soda so that wasn't an issue. I won't have a fill for more than 6 weeks after I had my surgery-- so June 1st. Might as well eat what I want as long as it is healthy. Waiting to eat is kinda crazy. Especially is there is no restriction.

Yip, eggs don't need to be mushed. They get mushed in your mouth anyway.

Just my 2 cents!

Yup, up to the particular doctor. I do know you want to allow enough time for good healing.

My instructions: 2 weeks liquids, 4 weeks pureed and mushies, then on to solid foods.

Lucky me- I will be going on vacation when I'm still on mushies! Time to be creative! Yesterday I went out and bought individual packets of Protein powder and a Blender Bottle. I figure I'll be doing lots of Protein shakes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
