Recommended Posts

I saw that someone else had mentioned this and I thought: Hey that's a great idea!!

I am looking for a band buddy who is getting banded on May 12th to email and/or text for help, support, encouragement and just to be a friend to go through this with. We could Celebrate our "B"- day.

Let me know

Hello There. My name is Robin. I am having my lap band put in on Mon May 10th. I am on the liquid fast now. Really hard but I am doing ok. I am new to this whole chat stuff. So you are my first buddy! :) I really should have started this search ealier. But better late than never...right? lol So I guess I ask if you would like to be on my team? I would be happy to return the favor! I am scared, excited and HUNGRY all at once. Trying to sort out my feelings one minute at a time. I am past the point of changing my mind. Deep breath, my head up, eyes straight ahead. We can do this!! Making plans for when I return home and stuff. Let me know if you are interested! ~Robin

Hi Robin,

Welcome to the site. This place is great! I found it just after my 1st intake appointment and have been going strong every since. Absolutely, we should be buddies.

This pre-op diet is wearing me out. I am tired and short tempered. I am diabetic so every afternoon my sugar drops and I get dizzy. Then some juice and off I go. It is going to be a struggle until I can eat solids again.

No turning back though. Just a few days and a whole new beginning. I am so thrilled and yet nervous and scared. All of which are normal.

Good Morning Angie,

How did things go? I am finally back to the computer. It has been less than a month and I am down 30 lbs. I was in the hospital 3 days. Woke up with Vertigo so for a week and 1/2 I took meds that made me sleep A LOT. Slow and steady...been trying to overcome the blues. I have cried more in a month then I have in years. I am getting back to work bit by bit. Have made lots of changes but I still feel like I am doing this alone. I am hoping to find a lap band buddy I can walk and talk with. Someone who understands how hard and challanging this whole experience is. Underneath the blues....I am happy?? And excited to feel better each day. Hope you are well. ~Robin

Congratulations! That is great to lose that much weight right off the bat. And I am glad you are feeling better.

I have lost 29 lbs since March and 10.2 since surgery. I'm okay with losing slowly. I am really thankful my doc had be back on foods pretty quickly. I don't have willpower and the liquid diet was pushing my limits.

I bet the vertigo was very scary for you. I'm glad it has cleared up.

The only issue I have right now is I have no restriction so I can eat just about everything and as much as I want. SO, that means more diligence for me in watching what I eat and how much. My 1st follow up is next week on the 10th. I am so hoping I get a fill that day. But I am losing at least 2 lbs a week so that makes me very happy that I can lose that without any restriction.

I wish I knew some people here that had the surgery. There is one I know who had lap band but she lied to everyone about how she lost the weight so I am not inclined to get together with her. I mean I don't blame her for not wanting people to know she had surgery but she made a big deal and production about her weight loss and pretty much said it was due strictly to eating healthy and tons of exercise. If you don't want people to know keep it on the down low but when you are shouting it from the rooftops then I have no respect for you when you lie big time.

I have a hard time walking with people because I walk slowly. It's just me and my treadmill for now until I can walk faster.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
