Going to a movie theater....how do you handle it?

Recommended Posts

I agree, don't go in hungry. I also prepare myself mentally and tell myself before going in that I'm going to smell the popcorn but can't have it. Since being banded I get stuck on popcorn. So, I just prepare myself prior to entering the building for the popcorn smell. I bring a bottle of Water also to sip on. Hope this helps! Best wishes!!!

I could never afford that stuff (when the kids were growing up) so it never was a problem to watch people just sit and eat. Now that they are grown, I just figure all of those people are wasting money and giving themselves heart disease. We all made the change to be healthier right? Gonna live 100! lol~

My son and I share a small buttered popcorn and a bottle of Water (as opposed to the super large free refills popcorn we used to get). I eat what I want which usually isn't all that much and I don't feel bad about it. I think we've gone twice since I was banded 4 1/2 months ago so not like it's a regular habit.

I got thinking about all the things we do and how I would handle each situation that involves food. One thing we really like is going to a movie....we go at least a couple times a month. I love all of it...the movie, the SODA, POPCORN....you get the picture.

So, do you guys take something and smuggle it in to drink/snack on, can you have a little bit of popcorn, or do you just watch the movie without a drink or snack?

I'm not banded yet but I would like to hear how other experienced bandsters handle this situation.

We go to the movies every week and I was worried about how I'd handle the popcorn... high carb/high fat. At home It's easy to resist but the smell at the movies makes me want some. Well, this will sound gross but since I'm on a low-carb high-protein diet... I chew it and spit it out. I get all the taste and none of the carbs. I get a courtsey "spit" cup and a big bottle of water(i put in 4C sugar-free Iced tea packets-0 calories). It may be disgusting but it works. As far as other Snacks, sneak in string cheese or sugar-free candy. I love Russell Stover's Pecan Delights. I wish the movie theaters would start selling sugar free Snacks. Some doctor's approve of nuts as snacks and some don't. But doctors don't know everything... see what works for you. Mine wouldn't let me eat hardly anything, I had to see what the books and this website were telling people to eat. My Doctor claims you don't have to eat at all just take Vitamins and drink. What fun is that for the movies?

I eat popcorn, and when I do, I eat it with butter. Not often, but I do eat it and I do not feel guilty at all!!! Hugs!!

I bring my Water in with me, usually a cup of ice water from Starbucks and eat the movie popcorn without butter.

I bring a bottle of Water, a tootsie pop and a 100 calorie pack of smart pop white cheddar popcorn, and if I have time I drive through taco bell and take a pinto's and cheese.< /p>

I am able to eat movie theater popcorn but know that it is uber bad.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
