Do you eat 1cup of food for every meal?

Recommended Posts

Curious how much food you are eating at each dining time. Are you having Snacks in between?

I weigh my food, rather than measuring. I have 3-4 oz. Protein for each meal. 1x/day I add 1/2 cup (okay, I lied--I do measure!) nonstarchy veggies. In a couple of weeks, I'll add a serving of fruit/day, too.

A couple of hours before Breakfast (I get up early!) I have a warm Protein Drink. Sometimes, at night, I have one, too. But otherwise, no Snacks most days.

If I'm hungry enough to gnaw the arms off the furniture, I do grab something like a string cheese, though.

I have found after almost two years what amount of Protein keeps me food - today 2 ounces of shrimp with a small spinach salad was good for lunch, Snacks may be less Protein - like string cheese but with some sort of veggie or rice cakes.

I have to do Snacks, Dr. is fine with this (for me) I need the constant small meal to feel happy and full :)

If the food is solid at all I can not eat 1 cup. It is more like 1/2 cup. If I eat something like Soup or chilli I can eat 1 cup. (that is lunch or dinner)

I'm not at restriction yet, so I can eat more. It's usually a lean meat and veggie. I usually do not eat a snack during the day, but if I do it is cheese stick. Since I'm not at restriction, I can eat fast and I don't have to chew well. I'm learning though.

I eat 4 oz. of food at a time....usually go about 3-3.5 hours in between "meals". No snacking...everything I put in my body I consider it fuel...since I get such small portions I better make what I do get count.

For Breakfast I often have Greek yogurt so that's not a cup of food. For lunch and dinner I do usually have a cup of food. I have some restriction. I usually don't snack and generally am not hungry.

well,hmmm...I was banded on 2/26/10 and started solid food w/out restrictions last tuesday. Even on cream Soups, and mushies I felt restriction...so I guess I am confused.:) Actually today was the first time I ate without much restriction. I was sitting on the couch watching tv - not moving or straining/twisting when I felt something kinda twist/move near/at band placement area. Like the movement of a 6-7 month fetus. No pain - just unnerving. Starving cause my husband was late, supper was at 7pm. I ate 1 cheeseburger w/out bun and about 12 french fries with about 5 broccoli florets - and hardly no restriction at all. A little very minor burning in my esophagus - but not like the singals before...like I swallowed a good sized fireball and it is stuck right between my boobs maybe up about 2". I have not had a fill. I am a little concerned that my band slipped. I have read before that you DO have pain when your band has slipped. So...what do you guys think? I do/did have to chew really, really well and can eat about 1.5 cups.:w00t:

Has anyone experienced my physical feelings before. If so did you find out if it was serious?:w00t:

dees-only-girl, it sounds like you did one of two things: ate beyond "full" or you have something stuck. It does not sound like there's band slippage or anything dire.

So that you don't push past "full," start paying attention to signals like the "slight burning" you felt---and also to the body sensations that occur just before you reach that point. Your body will start sending new signals to tell you it's had enough---for many of us, they are not at all like preop "full." I measure my food, and after I reach around the halfway mark in amount, I start really pausing after each bite to "listen." The cues can be really subtle, but if I eat beyond them, I do experience discomfort (even though I've not yet reached real restriction).

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
