Thank you all so much for your insight! I'm so new at this. You're all right about one thing: each person needs to have their own goals for their own reasons. I, too, want to do normal clothes shopping, not always wish I had a table instead of a booth at a restaurant, not feel pain and out of breath after walking a bit.

So for me, right now, I'm going to stick to my 190 goal. About seven years ago I did a self-imposed exercise regimen and diet, and lost about 75 pounds in six months. I got a bad case of bronchitis, couldn't walk my usual 3-4 miles a day, and when I recovered I just never went back, and the weight started piling back on. But I had gotten to about 240 at that point - that's heavy for a woman, but I was newly divorced, started actually dating, would go out and have requests to dance or for my phone number, and never scared a man off with my weight, apparently. It was WONDERFUL! I am one of those people apparently who can "carry it well." (lol) So for me to get below 200 would be amazing.

I did ask my surgeon at the information session if the weight loss could be faster if you were diligent about exercise and "behaving" and he said absolutely! So right now, I'm focusing on eating what I should, exercising, and seeing how hard - or easy - this all feels. I just know psychologically I already feel better. People who see me might just see someone as overweight; I know the progress I've made and the steps I've taken, even if they don't, so I feel GOOD about me for a change!

my doctor asked my weight goal. I said 135 bc I want to be in a healthy formal range for 5'6".

He asked the last time I weighed that much.

I laughed really hard and said I was about 10 years old. HAHA:tongue_smilie:

I am 5'2" and 253lb, started at 277lb but not one person has mentioned goal weight to me. I should be about 126lb but that does seem a long long way off. I would be happy to be under 140lb because we measure weight in stones in the UK and that would make me under 10 stone. (140lb) It would be nice to see single digits. But that also means losing half my current weight which Im told is unusal with the band????

I'm 4'11" and my doctor wanted to make my goal weight 139 but I thought that was too high so we changed it to 120. I picked 120 because that was my weight in high school and I thought I looked good at that weight.

My weight loss has been slow because I'm not working out as much as I should and I plan to correct that.

I am also 4'11" (don't meet many people that short so I enjoyed your post). My goal is also 120. It's my weight Sophmore year in college, after a huge diet and excersise routine. I started at 217 and have lost 58 pounds so far. Over half way there! I was banded Nov. 16 2009.

I am 5'11.5", and I have a very large frame. I once had an ex-boyfriend who told me I should be a size 2. I told him my skeleton could not fit into a 2. My goal weight is 185, which is outside of the normal range. My lowest weight as an adult was 220, and I was 19 years old. Frankly, I would be happy to get back there and stay, but I would just love to be living in Onederland.

I set my goal at 145, which is at the top of the "normal" chart for 5'2 woman. However, Im not stuck on that number. Yes, it would be nice, because I cannot honestly remember being that small, but if I dont get there, its not a big deal. WHen I graduated highschool 5 years ago I was 225. I would at least like to get down to 200. That would make me smaller than my husband and his family has ever seen me (and they've know me almost 8 years).

Ok, here is the deal with my doctor... I have spoken to my nutritionist and she asked me what my goal weight was. However, my surgeon never asked me what my goal weight was - he looked at the chart ( height to weight ratio ) and told me what my weight loss goal will be. I was very happy because I was hoping to loose 70lbs when he told me to loose 110.

I am very happy with my surgeon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
