Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled for this Thursday, March 25. I am very excited and looking to connect with folks who are also at this point in their journeys.

Hey there -

I am also being banded on the 25th.

Good luck to both of us!

Hi,

I was banded last Thursday, the first two days were very rough post op, but I am feeling great now, albeit with some soreness especially on my left side port area.

Spent some time sleeping in a chair with lots of supporting pillows when I got home because laying down, and trying to get back up, was so uncomfortable (painful).

Best of Luck!!!

That is about what I expect. How is eating (drinking) now? Are you hungry?

Drinking is fine, my Doc has me on clear fluids for first 7 days so I've not eaten yet, I did have my first golfball experience trying to swallow a Vitamin last evening. Hunger hasn't been too bad, I don't really think about it until my kids need to be fed.

I was banded on the 25th as well. Generally, I feel okay today. Port site is sore, as expected. The rest of my insicions do not hurt. As far as eating/drinking, I'm not doing so good. I'm having a hard time with knowing what I am suppose to feel. At times I am hungry and usually drink a Protein Shake or blended Soup. But my main complaint is how nauseated I still am. It hits me in the afternoon and evening. So, with that and some discomfort, it's really been hard reading my stomach. I wish I had someone living with me that could tell me how things are supposed to be going day by day. I feel a little in the dark at this point. I'm just hoping that as the days go by things get easier.

HI I was banded on 3/25 as well. I'm feeling pretty good. Hungry at times but no nausea. My port site is sore. especially when I bend over. Does anyone know if I will always feel the port when I bend over? Also, it seems to be at the level of the stroller handle, the crib and other things seem to bump it all the time keeping it sore. I'm hoping that once it heals in won't be so sensitive.

Hope everyone is having a speedy recovery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
